Kennedy Space Center, FL Exercise has never been my strong point. I am fortunate to be born with a fairly high metabolism so I do not gain fat pounds easily. I spent much of my post-college years throughout the 1990s doing aerobics somewhat regularly with decent wellness results.
For the last couple of years, I have done weekly "Heavy Duty" weight lifting per Mike Mentzer. Although his program works for others I know, Exercise has never been my strong point. For the last couple of years, I have done weekly "Heavy Duty" weight lifting per Mike Mentzer. Although his program works for others I know, evidently it was not right for me. I was not getting the muscle growth I wanted. It was also not aerobic enough and so my cholesterol level nudged above the 200 point level. My doctor said I needed to do daily aerobic exercise to get it back to healthy levels.
To top all this, the local gym I was attending closed.
My dear wife has been fighting her own battles with obesity and staying well. We both agreed that changes were needed.
We saw the infomercial for Power 90 and decided to pursue this program together. She found Power 90 too intense and has switched to Slim in Six.

Day 1 is October 27, 2003. My initial cholesterol level is 207. I am doing these exercises Sunday through Friday 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
It is now March 23, 2005 -- and I am soooooo psyched! Wow! I just had my body fat measured and could not believe the fitness center consultant when he told me my body fat had dropped to 12%! When I started with Power 90 back on October 27, 2003, my body fat had swollen to 26%. Due to my own negligence about actually doing the workout six days per week and my failure to obey Michi's Ladder rigorously, it crept up to 27% in early 2004. I did not get totally serious about doing the program as prescribed until fall 2004.
By that time, P90X had hit the shelves and I ordered the program. I started the P90X Phase I Fat Shredder in November 2004 and stayed with it through January 2005. I finished the Power 90 system in early December 2004 and started the P90X workout routine just to learn the moves, then jumped into it full blast at the beginning of January 2005. I then stuck with the program as prescribed, missing very few workouts and following the diet rigorously and with little exception. I did the Phase II Energy Booster in February 2005 and the Phase III Endurance Maximizer in March 2005.
I credit the P90X Nutrition Guide, with its high specificity and much greater detail than the Power 90 Michi's Ladder program, with my success in losing fat and building muscle. Here are the details:
Date Body Fat 2003-10-27 26% 2004-11-18 21% 2005-02-04 17% 2005-03-23 12% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If someone ever told me years ago that I would qualify as "athletic," I would have called him a joker. But facts are facts, and the P90X Nutrition Guide says my body fat qualifies me for that label. Woo hoo!
Furthermore, the P90X vitamins and recovery drink kick rear end like nobody's business! I could definitely tell a difference in my recovery and energy levels with these supplements. I actually recommend anyone doing any of the Beach Body workouts forget the other supplements and use these instead. You cannot go wrong with them! The same goes for the P90X Nutrition Guide, which I recommend without hesitation.
THANK YOU, BEACH BODY, FOR HELPING ME TO RESTORE MY VITALITY!
UPDATE: Wow! It is April 11, 2006, and my body fat has dropped to 10.2%!
UPDATE: When I started Power 90 back in 2003, I exercised from 8 PM to 9 PM nightly. I did these so late because I ate dinner around 5:30 PM and needed that much time to digest my food. Even so, I still felt nauseous during some of the moves, especially lower back extensions where I rested on my belly! These workouts also left me so pumped that I would often not be able to sleep until almost midnight. So I finally got smart and started eating dinner at work around 4 PM so I could exercise at 7 PM. In March 2006, I decided I wanted my evenings back for other activities so I moved my workouts to 5 AM. That is working quite well though it does mean hitting the sack by 8:30 PM to get the required eight hours of sleep Tony recommends. Luckily, I can usually manage that.
