I just want to say that I am scared. I am not new to weight loss but I am new to 103 pounds of weight loss. The last two years I have had a few health issues preventing me from serious exercise and just got the go ahead from my Dr. I used to be really into body building and weight training. 10 years ago I was HOT! but most of you probably were as well. Now 3 kids later I am just miserable. I want to live again and I want my 5 kids to be proud of me. I have been reading the message board for over a week now and just got my TMT dvd this past Sat. I have been doing the cardio and total body but I am just taking it slow w/o the band because I am so awkward right now. Still an excellent workout! I am also up to walking 2 miles a day. I plan on adding a half mile every five days until I reach 5 miles then am going to work on jogging for some of it. I have been planning this lifechange for quite some time I was just waiting for my dr. to give her ok. Now it is ON! I have lost 1.5 pounds already which seems promising after 3 days. I am also staying between 1400 and 1600 cal. diet as ADA reccommends and breaking it up into 5-6 small meals.
I have taken before pics but I am to ashamed to post them just yet. Maybe when I show some progress. I must tell you though they made me cry. But it's all good I won't be this way for long.

Welcome BigMamma!
I have had my TMT for sometime now(Aug) I believe and I was doing it daily as well as going to the gym but kind of put it on the back burner and I have been hitting it at the gym and walking two miles or more daily. On 9/29 I received a Dx from my doctor: Type 2 Diabetes and NO I am not claiming this. I take Metformin 500mg twice daily, I have changed my eating and today I weighed in for a 10 lb weight loss so I can say that I am doing good. I refuse to continue eating unhealthy and I truly believe this was God's way of getting my attention that I was headed for self-destruction.
Today it was raining here in North Carolina so I could not walk so I did TMT Total Body only so I did get in 10 mins of exercise which is better than nothing. Well I just want to welcome you and wish you nothing but Good Luck and just to let you know to take it one day at a time.

Di-a-betes > I can either die with it or beat it

Welcome Nicole! Congratulations on making that choice to head off full blown diabetes! These message boards are a great place for support, motivation and inspiration- it's been a key component for many of us (me included!). Joining a group of like minded people with the same goal is great way to give yourself an edge and get to where you want to be!

Your going to love TMT! YOu might stop by 4Life's thread, its another great place to visit and he is working to rid himself of Diabetes too!

I'd love to hear about the goals you've set for yourself and I'll keep checking in to see how your doing if you don't mind!

Again, congratulations on making the first move and welcome!

hi nicol, please don't ever feel ashamed of your pics. remember you are a work in progress and in time and with tmt, you will be where you want to be. be proud of yourself for ordering the program and coming to the message board--that's a huge step.

Hi Nicole,

How lucky you are to have found this program and this forum early in your journey. When I started 2 years ago, I did everything on my own - I didn't know anything about TMT or BeachBody... If only I had... My goal two years ago was 109 lbs, and before TMT I had lost 40.8 lbs in 2 years. Since I've started TMT (grant you I'm now doing some other things with it) I've lost 25.4 lbs in 10 weeks! If only I had known what I know now...

My advise to you, eat that elephant one bite at a time! 100 lbs is a lofty goal, but perserverance and dedication will get you there. You will have good times and bad times, You will feel like quiting at times too. But PLEASE, don't do what I did and give up - Keep plugging at it everyday! I've only got 42.8 lbs to go Nicole because I'm refocused again and WILL NOT GIVE UP - EVER!

Stick around the forums, there's alot you can learn from folks here! Read them, learn from them, and share your success with them!

I'd also LOVE for you to join our next challenge on 11/19 - It's TMT -vs- FAT in a fight to the finish on the main page.

Can't say again how fortunate and lucky you are!

Hello,Thanks to all for the encouragement! I weighed in 4.5 lbs lighter yesturday. For now 3x week I have been doing Cardio and trying to do the Yoga Flex it is just that fat girls aren't meant to bend that way!! emoticon I go back to my doctor and a dietician on the 17th of Nov. I am hoping to have lost a lot more by then. But I will take what I can get. The diabetes assoc. has a person at my weight (255.4 start) eating 1800 cal. a day it just seems like a lot to really loose weight. Not to mention the cost of eating that much low fat, sugar free, low cholesterol... etc. I guess I will have to do more exercise and loose it before I go broke. I am taking my measurements and weekly weight in the a.m.. I will try to post them soon. And just maybe I will get brave enough for the dreded fatty pics.

Congrats on your weight loss so far and for doing such a great job with your workouts! It will get easier each time you do it and with each pound that you shed! Pat yourself on the back and keep pushing play! Great work!

You might consider taking the Kathy Smith program info in with you to your next doctors appointment and seeing if they would recommend it for you! The meal plan and meal cards are made up of regular food you can buy at a grocery store and don't have to be expensive

O.K. I must admit I cheated a little last night and ate a piece of my Husband's birthday cake. Just a small one. Too much to resist a homeade german chocolate with coconut pecan and chocolate frosting! But I did make the cake and used splenda instead of sugar egg whites instead of whole eggs and pureed prunes instead of oil. No One noticed and I didn't tell!!

Unfortunately the frosting was the real deal..

That all behind me now this morning I did both Total Body and Lowerbody and I am getting ready for my 30 min. walk now.

I just wanted to post my measurements since they seem so promising this morning:

That's so awesome your hubby wants to participate, ENCOURAGE that! It's so much easier to do this with support, some of us can get that at home, some of us come here for it, some of us do it on our own emoticon *sniff* No, not talking about me! emoticon Don't even start all you lurkey=loos!

Way to go on the big loss this week! That's so awesome!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I'd say that's motivation emoticon

Hi Nicol!

Congrats on all of your accomplishments so far!! What a difference in only 10 days!! You don't need to post your pics if you don't want to - what is important is that YOU have them as a starting point!

You are already setting a great example for your children by taking better care of yourself , eating better and exercising! Great job!! Don't think for one second that this will not have a positive effect on them - it will!

Hi Nicol and welcome! My name is Doreen and I started this journey back on 7/20/08 with at least 100 lbs to lose. My starting weight was 270 lbs. I'm now(as of this past Sunday) 239. I can so relate to your feelings about your pictures, I also cried all day when I saw mine-never did post them. Nicole is right, they're there for you to look at in the future to see how far you've come. I've only ever showed them to one person.

I also have diabetes in the family(my dad and grandma) and watched them suffer. I do not want that for myself. You are truly doing wonderfully!


You should check out 4life's thread,like Sarah said, he's also fighting diabetes and is a great source of knowledge(and a great guy). I hope to see you there! He's on vaca now, but will be back at it after the 14th.

Everyone here is just awesome-Sarah,Keith, Nicole-they've all been here for me when I needed them and we'll be here for you!

Hey yall,
Just finished my walk which turned into an hour long field cleaning. We live on 10 acres and lastnight my goats escaped and flipped over the trash cans, thanks to our hilly landscape I didn't notice until I walked to the end of the drive. Of course it was windy and everything blew all across the horses' field and along the fence. My poor kids got on the bus this morning with our yard looking like a dump! I rushed around trying to get it done before their bus came to bring them home. Now that's a work out!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What an amazing loss in inches too! Do you feel wonderful??? It's great that your hubby is getting involved too, and once he sees how much progress your making, he'll want to stick with it too! Good Luck shoe shopping!

Hi Nicol!

Just stopping in to see how things are going! It's great that you're hubby PP(pushed play) with you! If he didn't get his new shoes yet, you could alway do the yoga with him,lol, they don't wear shoes for that one!

Sounds like you're getting quite the w/o in the yard too! After a week or so of TMT, you'll probably notice having more energyemoticon.

Today I got up at 5:00 am did 2 loads of laundry folded and put away, washed dishes swept the floors,fed & watered the horses,goats,chickens, cats and dogs. I Made a healthy breakfast two times, Once for school age kids at 6:30 then again for my youngest 2 girls at 8. Did morning cardio,unclogged my neighbors bathroom sink, shopped for some grub,bathed the toddlers,planned my menu for the week, butchered and cleaned a chicken for the week, took a quick 20 min. walk, then fed my oldest son and his girlfriend and my youngest 2 a healthy lunch. Hey all that by 2pm.
Just Imagine what I will be able to accomplish minus 98 more pounds!
AS for being addicted to message boards I think I'll be ok as long as I am not trying to eat cookies while I am typing!!

Unfortunately this is an everyday for me. I go until 9pm taking care of everything on our farm and the five kids. My husband is an over the road truck driver and gone anywhere from five to six days at a time. When he is home I don't get a break because we have been remodeling our house for quite some time now. We have been finishing up everything on the outside before winter. I really have to exercise alot to compensate for what I am accostomed too. After having my last 2 babies I was limited to what I could do because of hernias yes I have plural 3 hernias or is it hernii? Needless to say I still have to be very careful. Since having my last girl 2 years ago I have lost over 36 pounds but then I sprained my ACL and later developed plantar Faciitis. So while my doctor had me "resting" I gained back 20 in the last year. Wow I sound like a whiner. But I am mostly better now except for the hernias but I am carefully exercising. I can't do the ab workout but I can feel my oblique and abdominal muscles getting stronger still.

Hey these would be awesome fat pants!!
