Hi All,

I'm starting SI6 today, 10/18 and wanted to see if there's anyone else who's starting today, or even this week. I never did the program with virtual friends/workout partner, and would love the support to stay on track. My goal is to follow the program for the next six weeks....along with staying within my points (I'm also following the Weight Watcher for my eating plan). Any joiners?

Omg!

I'm also doing weight watchers and starting slim in 6 10/19. I have attempted the program many times but I never totally commit. I've never used the boards, ad I'm hoping this will give me that extra kick I need. I would love to join you along this journey!

Hi K3000,

I am soooo excited that your starting SI6 tomorrow and that your also using weight watchers! I think we're the perfect work out buddies for the next six weeks (and beyond). I've requested you as buddy, that way we can talk more via messages and I can tell you more about myself and vise versa.

Good luck tomorrow with your first work out and keep me posted!!

I started the 18th as well so I'd like to join this thread. I previously started Slim in 6 in August and did two weeks of it, but life took over and I got lazy. Even though I've been running every day I'm fatter than ever so I have a lot to lose! I'm 5'7 and as of today I was 146.5- I need to lose 21.5 PBS to get back to my good weight, but honestly I'll be happy with 10- anything to make me fit back into my clothes. Today I did SIU and Slim in 6-pack along with an hour of Callanetics- hopefully the same tomorrow.

How do you like weight watchers? Do you go to meetings or do it online? I've been thinking about trying it but I've never done it before.

Hopefully we will all have wonderful results after these 6 weeks.

Can I join? I first started the week of 9/1 and started a new job the next week. So, I basically fell off the wagon immediately. I'm having a really hard time fitting this into my schedule since I've been working really long hours. But I need to do this, and WANT to lose some weight. I don't have a lot to lose, but I need to get motivated and stay motivated to be successful. I'm hoping that by having someone to answer to, I can stick with the program. I'm not doing weight watchers, but I have in the past and it was very helpful. I don't have as much of a problem sticking to eating right as I do with fitting the workouts into my schedule AND I have a million excuses, I'm tired, busy etc. So, can I join you guys?

Hi laurakitty!!

Welcome to the group!! I'm so excited that your joining the team, the more, the merrier! Thats excellent that you've been running everyday, I wish I had the motivation to get my lazy butt up and run. Every night (for like the past 2 years) I tell myself that I'm going to get up early and do a 1 mile run/walk, and NEVER do. I believe if you keep up with the running, along with SI6 and keep your eating in control there's no doubt you will lose 10lbs or more in 6 weeks!

Regarding weight watchers, I swear by it. It absolutely works, if you follow the plan. About four years ago a co-worker introduced to me weight watchers, we would go to a local meeting once a week after work, and I successfully lost 26 pounds, in about 12 weeks (and I wasn't working out as regularly as I should have been). For beginners, I recommend going to the meetings instead of doing the online thing because with the meetings you get weekly materials that cover specific topics like, portion control, knowing the signs of hunger verse a craving, eating out, and plus you get a lot of motivation and support from the other members. Especially when you see someone who was once the same weight, or same size as you, and you see how great they look! Its like you want that too!

Also with the online version you don't get weekly materials, and I find it hard to navigate around the site to get the same info you usually get in meetings---and if you don't know anything about how it works, it's not a good start, IMO. Since I'm very familiar with the plan, I do the online version, but I always recommend the meeting for newbies. And actually I'm really considering joining the traditional meeting again, just to have that accountability and reinforcement.

Hopes this help! And again welcome to the team:o)

Hi sliminsandiego,

You can absolutely join the team!!! And I can totally relate to the million and one excuses as to why you can't workout. I've had one almost everyday for the last 3 1/2 months! But what has has helped me in the past (when I'm focused and motivated) is to basically give myself a scolding each morning.....I basically tell myself, that it doesn't matter how "good" I was yesterday, or how hard/much I worked out yesterday, all that matters is what I'm going to do TODAY to get my body where I want it to be, and to be happy. I then ask myself "Are you going to do what it takes TODAY to get your body where you want to be?" Basically I don't give myself credit for what I did yesterday, or for what I might possibly do tomorrow, I take it one day at a time, and I make sure that I do everything possible for just that one day, to reach my goal. And then start all over again the next day, and the next day. (but unfortunately for me, I then reach my goal, get happy, stop scolding myself and fall right back into my bad habits).

I can also relate to long hours at work, and just coming home not feeling like doing anything! Or not having the energy or motivation to get up a hour early to fit a work out in before work, or simply feeling that I deserve the right to not work out today. But with you starting SI6 over again, I think your strategy should be to take it one day at time, and make sure that NO MATTER WHAT, for just that one day your going to put on your workout gear......and your going to press play, and even if you have to stop and take a million and one breaks, or even if you can't do all the lunges and squats, or even if your arms get tired and you have to rest them on your hips (like i had to today *lol*) at the end of the day, none of that matters because you know that you did everything possible for just that one day, to get closer to your goal. And if you continue taking it....just one day at a time, you'll reach your goal.

And if your looking for accountability I can help you with that either via email, phone, AIM, or on here. One thing that is helping me thus far with accountability (and I know i'm only on day 2) is uploading a photo of myself. I was a lil apprehensive about putting my pic up, because I thought omg what if someone I know recognizes me, and sees that I'm up here. I was scared to expose myself to this world. But then I said to myself, so what! I need help, and Im going to get it---and if anybody who knows me is up here too, great, we can help each other. Plus hopefully the next pic up here will be me a two piece WITHOUT a cover up!

Regarding weight watchers, that's fine if your not using it, as long as your following some type of nutrition plan (even if it's counting calories, and staying within your range) that's sufficient.

And lastly (I know this is long post) what time is usually the best time for you to fit in a workout?

Hi, I would like to join!

I received my SI6 box on Friday and started yesterday with a fast. I decided to only do 1 day of fasting, 2 days seemed too extreme right now for me. The one day wasn't that hard, I was really nervous but it turned out fine. And I'm not even that hungry today...I'm finding that the fast really did work to reduce my appetite as they said it would in the material that came with the DVDs. And since I worked so hard this morning I certainly don't want to mess that up by eating poorly. It's a great motivator!

This morning I did SIU and the stretch tape. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. to fit my workout in before my kids woke up and feel great so far! I actually feel like I have a lot of energy and can't wait to wake up tomorrow and do it again. I'm normally NOT a morning person, I sleep in until the very last second but it actually felt good to get up and have alone time (which is the ONLY part of my day where I have "alone time"). I know that for me anyway, if I put my workouts off for later in the evening, I won't do them. I'll find excuses not to work out.

I didn't find the SIU very hard so I think I will do SIU tomorrow with the 6 pack abs then maybe on Wednesday begin RIU. My knees and arms were popping away though - I hope that doesn't mean I was doing something wrong - it didn't hurt...it's probably just lack of activity and age LOL!

I'm also a runner (I think someone else posted that) and I've also not been this heavy in quite some time. I am 5'8" and was 147 in my weigh in this morning (that was after my fast yesterday).

I'm excited about SI6 - I know that if I stick with it and continue with good eating habits (I do South Beach Diet) that I can lose some weight and tone up and have more energy!

So glad to meet you all, can't wait to kick some butt with you guys!

Hi San Diego! Have you tried waking up early to fit in your workout? I am like you, I have 1,000,001 excuses why I can't work out or don't have the time, etc. I work full time and have two young children (3 and 1). I also do pretty well with my diet, but since turning 30, diet alone just isn't enough anymore.

I decided that the only way to make this work for myself is to get up early, before anyone else in the house and just get it done. Everyone usually starts waking up around 7 or 7:30 so I figure if I can get up at 6, by the time everyone else starts waking up, I'll be done working out for the day and hopefully showered too LOL!

I know that I only have one day behind me but it feels awesome to already have my workout in and done and not have to worry about when I'm going to find the time later.

Hugs to you, you can do it! If I can, anyone can!!

GettinBodied: 10/19 Checkin
10/19/09 8:48 PM as a reply to K3000.
Although I had planned to get up a hour early to do my workout and eat breakfast without rushing, I didn't. The entire day I kept on telling myself that no matter what, I was going to complete my workout. I ended up working late today, till about 8pm, and by the time I got home, it was a quarter to 9. I felt the laziness and excuses setting in as I rode the elevator up to my apartment, so instead of winding down and relaxing for a bit, as soon as I hit the door I IMMEDIATELY put on my workout cloths, turned the dvd player on and pushed play! My legs were sore from pervious day's workout (the squats and lunges) but I struggled through it and successfully completed day 2 of week 1!!

I also see that 13blessing completed her day 2 or week 1 as well; Yay!

How did everyone else do? Did everyone else complete their day 1 and/or day 2 work out?

What time does everyone usually work out? 13blessing, I see that you fit your workout in the mornings before the kids wake up, thats an excellent strategy to make sure you get it! Plus I'm sure that will help you stay on track with your eating the rest of the day knowing that you started off your day on the right foot! I haven't tired the fast.....but now knowing that you completed it; I might give it try when I get down to week 4 or 5. I am also on Start It Up.....imma stick with it for at least 6 days before I move on to Ramp It Up. I'm no expert, but if you didn't experience any pain due to the popping/cracking you should be fine. Also, how's the South Beach Diet eating plan going, how long have you been following it?

Hey K3000, thanks for checking in! How did you do today? Did you manage to fit your workout in and stay within your points? I'm in the process of tallying up my points as we speak, I know im within range, but just trying to get myself back in the habit of tracking EVERYTHING to eat, good or bad.

Hi Jadensmom! I have read that you really start seeing dramatic results at the end of week 5 and starting week 6.

I am a daily weigher - but since starting the program, my plan is to weigh once per week. I know that with resistance training my weight might go up and I don't want to demotivate myself.

You're doing a great job! Keep it up! I start RIU tomorrow and I'm a little nervous!

I dragged myself out of bed and did SIU and the stretch videos this morning. It was really hard to get up...my throat is on fire today and I'm sure I'm getting sick. I can't even believe it - I sure hope I'm not!

It was tough to do the video this morning. I found it pretty easy yesterday but my thighs were screaming today. I'm very sore. I was planning to do RIU starting tomorrow but I might stick with SIU for one more day - we'll see how I feel. I so hope I'm not getting sick, that would really be a huge bummer.

How did everyone else do?

Yay! Good for you for pushing play! I had that feeling this morning too - I just didn't want to get up to workout. I kept telling myself, I"ll just sleep in and then I'll fit it in later - but I knew it wouldn't get done if I didn't do it right then. So I did.

I was exactly like you, it was a lot harder today than it was yesterday. My muscles are sore everywhere. I have places hurting that I didn't even know COULD hurt LMBO! But it felt good to get it done, and I'm glad I did because today is just crazy and there is no way I could fit in a workout later.

I was going to do the ab tape after SIU but I couldn't get through it. I haven't done a single sit up in years so I think the little bit of ab work on SIU is enough for me. I did the stretch tape again instead. I'm glad to hear you are going to do SIU for the entire week - I honestly think I might too. I'm pretty sore and I just can't imagine starting RIU tomorrow - plus I think I"m starting to get a cold or something - I'm super tired and my throat really hurts. Figures right?

I've been doing South Beach Diet since my son was about 3 months old. Right now I'm doing Phase 2/3...I try to limit carbs and when I have them, I eat only whole grains. It makes me feel so much better. I have PCOS and it's really hard on my body to feed it too much processed stuff - South Beach is a really good plan for women with PCOS or women with diabetes.

The fast wasn't so bad. I am sure if I had the correct teas/juices they recommend it would have been easier and I could have possibly done it for the entire 2 days. It did really help to curb my appetite and shrink my stomach. I ate a fraction of what I normally would have eaten yesterday - I just wasn't hungry for it.

Are you taking any of the supplements? I am not just yet - I am taking my multivitamin but that's it.

Take care! Remember to keep pushing play!

Hey everyone!

I did the SIU and stretching ones this morning. 2 days down! I thought I would be really sore this morning but I wasn't! I think I'm going to do SIU one more day then move on to the next phase.

I started adding whey protein powder to my slim fast breakfast shake. I have a daycare and am used to eating and snacking when the kids do. I'm REALLY hungry. I know it's just because I'm used to eating more and larger portions.

I am planning on weighing only once a week. Every Monday morning.

How's everyone else doing??
