Breastfeeding and working out
Hello!
I'm currently doing RevAbs and loving the after burn!!! However, should I start at Phase 1 or skip to Phase 2 in the meantime as I'm breastfeeing. My baby is 4 and a half months and I intend to start weaning slowly at about 6 months and then stop nursing at one year.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!!!!

Are you referring to the nutrition plan? If so, you can do it as is, but the trick is to add 500 calories to whatever number the plan has you eat. That should cover breast milk.

Does that answer your question?

I would like to know how the working out and breasfeeding is going for you. I am starting up my Chalean Extreme again and am also worried about how to keep up a mild supply. I know that on days i have worked out, i have pumped about an ounce less milk at a pumping then usual. Any help or tips on keeping up milk supply would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!
My daughter is 5 months now and is eating about 6 times a day, roughly about 5 ounzes at each feed. I think the trick is to get your body to produce more milk, which means just keep pumping each day at the same time or just keep switching breasts at each feed. Also, if you are into natural herbs, Fenugreek has been used for centuries to increase breast milk supply.

I hope this helps! How old is your little one?
Claire

I exclusively breastfed three babies, each for over one year (and two were, twins). Getting the extra 500 calories, plus increased water intake and pumping (a few times each day) allowed me to make enough milk for each child (although it was easier w/ a single baby). I know that in some circles, pumping w/ a machine is frowned upon (not natural, doesn't mimic the baby's feeding routine or the way they feed/suck to a T). But I found it very useful to increase & maintain a good supply of breastmilk, and the extra milk could be stored (frozen) for later use. You can certainly be physically active (P90X or other intensive workouts/training), but definitely need to get in enough calories & fluids to make enough milk for your baby, and the milk supply has to be constantly stimulated through the feedings to the baby and/or pumping. Let me know if you have any other questions.
