I was always active in sports growing up. Baseball, soccer, snow skiing. Was dedicated to weight lifting from age 18-27. Suffered extensive injuries playing soccer at age 27 to my ankles and fell off the fitness wagon.
I had always been thin and ate what I wanted, when I wanted and how much I wanted never an issue.

From age 30 - 37, I ballooned up to 205lbs. from my 'fighting weight' of 160lbs. On a 5'10" guy that is naturally an Ectomorph body type; I looked like a basketball on a stick. I saw a picture of myself in the pool with my kids and asked, "Who is the fat guy in the pool? I thought we were the only ones in the...." and it dawned on me that I didn't recognize myself anymore.
I made consistent small changes over time, rededicated myself to working out and lost the weight at age 37. I started playing indoor soccer at a competitive level again.
At age 41 I noticed I was getting a step (or two) slower; and it was frustrating. Ran across P90X while researching Plyometric exercises and it struck me that this was the 'kick in the rear' I needed.
I've 'brought it' in the kitchen and with the DVD's and completed round one. I am in round two as I type this and loving every minute of it. There are good days and bad days, but I am 'pushing play' without fail.
And I've gotten my 'jump' back and am much more explosive from a standing stop. I'm actually a better soccer player now at 41 than when I was in my 20's.

I stumbled across P90X when looking for Plyometric workouts. After reading about it, doing some research on it, I decided it was the 'kick in the rear' I needed after having been on my exercise program for nearly 3 years.
It certainly has kicked me in the rear, no doubt. I dropped 6% body fat on this program, got my jump back, discovered that you can train to be flexible and restored my drive and love of strength training.
P90X is so well rounded, so well done; combining strength resistance training, cardio training and flexibility work that it keeps me interested, working hard and pushing harder every workout.
And the result is not only fitness, attention to eating cleaner (why do all the work and mess it up with my diet?), it's made me into a more competitive and better soccer player. At age 41, I never thought I would even come close to saying words like that.
