With no place to Hello and welcome to my Team Beachbody site ;-) My name is Yvonne and I live in Levittown, NY with my husband Howard (Howie). I am originally from Holland (The Netherlands). When I was 35 years old and my life was at a point where I had to CHANGE something, because I was just NOT happy, I packed 2 suitcases, sold everything that did not fit in and went to the Dominican Republic. With no place to live, no work and hardly any money I arrived. But I made it work!! I stayed there for almost 8 years. I came to the States in January 2004 to become a live-in nanny for a friend, who has sole custody over his son Jason, who was 9 years old at that time. I met Jason’s father in the Dominican Republic where I was managing a scuba diving center in Sosua. I did a lot of different things while I was living in the DR, like selling time share, working in a bead factory as a secretary and office manager, managing a small hotel and managing a company that sold all kind of items through ads on TV (you know them, the exercise machines, the kitchen machine, the weight loss supplements, etc). My time in the DR was very interesting and definitely a learning experience. In my first year here I met my husband through a dating website… yes ladies... it does work. You just have to find the right one! We have been happily married since October 16, 2005. Hmmm.. just had my anniversary… Marrying my husband made me the lucky step mom to 2 wonderful kids (Ari – 21 and Gilya - 19). Gilya started UMASS last year and Ari is also in college, but lives with his mom. He drops in at least once a week. I miss the Sunday breakfasts with both of them like we used to have before Gilya moved to Massachusetts. What do I do every day? I do a lot every day. My hubby often asks me where I do get the energy from... maybe it is because I like what I do ;-) I keep myself busy. Apart from having a few home businesses (health and wellness related -> I like living healthy and helping people change their lifestyle and live healthy also ;-) I work full time in a daycare center. That is my passion. I was never lucky enough to become a mom, but like to surround myself with children. And it seems children also like to be around me. Call me “Mary Poppins” ;-) Networking is another passion of mine. I am the organizer of 3 local networking groups and do a lot of online networking. I met the most wonderful people that way and have a whole list of places and people to visit in the near future. Since I do have some home businesses and I got burned with the first one I chose (I liked the products, but did not look into the company itself) … I started a company (Virtual Marketing Assistant) to help other women who are looking for a business. I want to help them NOT to make the mistake I made and with my knowledge of Policies and Procedures, compensations plans and info about loads of companies, I hope to be able to assist them in finding their passion. My hubby supports and helps me in my home businesses, likes to attend the local networking meetings with me and is looking for a new trade. Oh oh, this got quite long... I hope you did not get bored. I'll stop for now. Take care and stay happy and healthy, Yvonne My Progress My Fitness Goal: Transformation Story

After I got married in October 2005 I really enjoyed preparing dinner each night. Meat with creamy vegetables, chicken with creamy sauce, desserts, home made cookies and pies... And slowly our clothes became smaller and smaller ;-) At a routine checkup my husband was told he needed to loose weight in order to keep his blood pressure down. That is when I realized we were having fun, but not living a healthy lifestyle. I changed our diet, started using my bicycle to go to work and we both lost about 20 pounds in 4 months. That was a great start, but what was missing was exercising. I am not a fan of the gym, nor of competition sports. And when a friend introduced me to Team Beachbody, I knew I had found the perfect solution. I could exercise right here at home. With the incentive of winning a price. My weight loss had stopped after the initial 4 months, but I really wanted to loose about 15 or 20 more pounds. And get in shape, feel better and have a better overall health condition. I am on my way now. Almost ninety days into the program I have lost another 10 pounds already and i am enjoying it!! | ||||||||
