I am married and have 4 children ranging in ages of 31 down to 12 years of age. So right now you are doing the math. Hmmmm? I LOVE to travel! I have been to several European countries. I also have had the opportunity to live outside of the United States by living in Russia for three years. I like to backpack and scuba dive. I also play the guitar and write music. I make ceramic pieces on a pottery wheel. That is why my Beachbody sign-on name is 00Claygirl. I just recently was able to rejoin Tae Kwon Do. After I got my black belt five years ago, I moved to a different state. I had given up the idea of progressing on to my next belt as I thought that it is a sport for the “young” people. I know that if I had not been doing my Beachbody workout I would not have been able to do many of the kicks. I am a Registered Nurse working at a Level One trauma hospital in the Emergency Department. I also volunteer as a flight nurse for a search and rescue team a few days a month on an aviation team. I get to fly in helicopters! It’s really exciting! Since I am the smallest person on the team I have more incentive to keep fit. It is very important so that I can do the rescues by lifting the patients into our rescue litter. Last year my husband (who is a fire captain/paramedic) and I rescued a man stuck on the side of a mountain who had broken both bones in his lower leg. We had to crab crawl down to him on a very steep angle as we were being directed by radio from the helicopter that was hovering out in front of us. We saved our patient! However, two days later we were both so incredibly sore that we were hobbling down the stairs in our home. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous! So, I have many reasons for getting and staying in shape. I see many people of different ages that come to the hospital who would not be seeking medical attention if they would just eat right and workout. As a nurse I have spent years taking care of sick people. I now would like to also help people prevent disease and live happier healthier lives! My Progress My Fitness Goal: Transformation Story

This before picture was taken just as I was finishing a 5 day backpacking trip way back in the High Sierra’s. This was my second trip in the last two years. I had gone with three other women, as this was a “girl’s only” trip. I had a great time for the most part. That is with one exception: I could barely make it on the trails on this second trip. It was sheer pride that got me through it. You see I had been newly married for almost a year. I have heard it said that you could gain 10 pounds the first year of marriage. Yep, that’s just what I did. So, I had to keep stopping and gasping for air and let the burn go out of my legs. Just before I got married in Hawaii I was consistent in exercising by either lifting weights or going on the elliptical and treadmill. I got into that size 4 wedding dress. Just eight months later it was a different story. I had gotten really inconsistent and ate whatever I wanted and rarely exercised. I knew it would catch up with me but I had no idea until this photo was taken how quickly it could happen. Then September, October, November, December went by and of course there was the busyness of getting kids back in school, the fall and winter holidays with all the festivities. Always in the back of my mind was the fact that I needed to start exercising consistently. Now here’s the part I didn’t mention. I had a friend at work that was looking through a P90X food plan and making out his menu. I asked him what was, “P90X”. He was so excited to tell me about it and showed me his before photos and then pulled out his current photos. He was just finishing week 12 and stated that he was going to repeat the program. When I looked at his photos I was really impressed how defined his body had become. He gave me the website and I thought I would check it out. The next day I was watching TV and saw an infomercial about P90X. I was intending to check out the website anyway so it was nice to see the testimonies of people and how they had changed their health and their lives. The next week I got the pull up bar, the recovery drink and the new DVD’s. I did “try” to do it for 4 weeks and then just gave up. Here was why: I wasn’t committed to really pushing myself and see how fit I could become. I hated anyone telling me how many calories I should eat. As I found it difficult to do the workout I thought I could never get close to what Tony Horton and the others were doing on the DVD’s. I looked at my exercise equipment and thought I could just go back to doing what I was “used” to. Before I knew, it was January. I was getting ready for my one-year anniversary trip to Hawaii. The holidays were over and nothing fit right. Every thing I could have possibly put on to wear was ridiculously tight or did not fit at all. I got really depressed. I had to buy a really frumpy bathing suit on my first anniversary. I was so embarrassed. On that trip it was a huge wake up call for me. I was flipping through the channels and saw another P90X infomercial. It was then that I remembered that I already had everything I needed to do the workout. This time I was more inspired. I was tired of the person reflecting back at me in the mirror. I started in the February. In week 8 I still was not seeing the instantaneous results of the workouts. Here is the one thing I heard that kept me going. It was when Tony Horton said something like, “Rome was not built in a day and neither will your body”. My friend at work was really encouraging me also. I am almost done with the first round of P90X. Honestly, it has been the last few weeks that I noticed a real difference. I have consistently been using the P90X recovery drink since I started. My husband and I both started drinking the Shakeology for over a month now. We love it! We have just ordered the Activit supplements and joint support super formula. We both have had many opportunities to share our excitement with our friends. In the last month there were seven of us who became Beachbody Coaches. We go on to WOWY and set up times to exercise at the same time. Others have inspired me and I hope to be an inspiration for all those who want to see how fit they can become.
