My life is textbook...I have a loving husband and we have been married for 17 years this April. We have one girl and three boys, ages: 11, 9, 7 and 5. My husband will be turning 40 in June and I am a year behind him, and we want to look and feel great for ourselves, each other, and our family. Just recently, I read that my sister-in-law in Budapest is working out just as hard as we are, so that she looks great when she comes to the States for a visit this summer. We can't let them look better than us, so we're going to 'BRING IT'. Let the competition begin. My husband is always loving and complimentary of me and says he doesn't care what I look like; however, as I get into shape, I know that it does matter!!! He loves my new look and so do I. Tony Horton is pretty great....I've had success with him before with P90 and the Masters Series, but two years later, I'm back to where I was, pre-P90. Why? Why did I work my butt off for 6 months to allow myself to go back, looking flabby and so out of shape? This occurred for many reasons. For starts, my life is pretty sedentary. As a home schooling mom of four, I hardly ever have any time for myself...I love my family, but they take a lot of my time...that's just a fact, not a complaint. On top of that, I've had a sick child with seizures for the past four years. We've been in and out of the hospital many times and my priority has been to meet his needs first, never thinking twice about shoving a candy bar in my mouth and/or downing a soda as a quick fix energy boost. On top of all of that, I believe one of the biggest reason I gained my weight back, is due to the fact that my fitness routine and proper nutrition was not a family affair. It's very difficult to maintain a certain level of health when my life partner and children are not exercising nor wanting to eat the foods necessary to succeed. Hey, we love In-N-Out Burger and Chicago style pizza, who doesn't? But something happened this last year...my husband finally went in for a physical for the first time in 17 years of marriage. He was trying to buy a life insurance policy for himself and had to undergo a physical. The results: High cholesterol. He will also be turning 40 in June. I had seen the P90X infomercials so many times and everything in me wanted to go for it...However, I knew that the program was intense, and without the support of my husband, it just wasn't going to happen. So I mentioned it...a few weeks later I mentioned it again...this time there was a definite interest in his voice. I waited longer until finally, he told me to go ahead and buy it. In all honesty, I never thought my husband would stick with it. Even as we began the first week, I waited for him not to show up downstairs for the work-out, as we committed to 5:30 a.m. each day. My husband works until 11 or 12 each night, so I knew this was going to take extra commitment on his part. We finished P90X today on Easter Sunday. My husband lost 22 pounds and dropped 50 points in his cholesterol. I have dropped two pant sizes and 16 pounds. My husband is cooking with me and we are persevering together. We both started P90X over-weight, so we are not where we want to be...But we will do another round in just a few weeks. We are not starting right away, because I have entered my first ever TRIATHLON, occurring on Mother's Day Weekend, and I will be in training. I have been running 4 miles with no problems and I give all the credit to Tony Horton who has trained me well. | ||||||||
