Last January 2009 as I was getting ready to enter I am updating my profile because I underwent the most incredible life and death journey and need to share it with all of you. Last year,I forget which month I won $1000.00 for my story on how beach body had changed my life. It was the one about the skinny fat person . I looked good but was not a healthy eater. Beachbody helped me change that. Last January 2009 as I was getting ready to enter the big contest I started getting sick. I was itchy and my body started blowing up. I had submitted all my material except for the pictures. in two weeks I had but on 30lbs. And I was barely eating. I knew I could not submit my pictures that way. So no contest 2008 for me. That was the least of my problems. I spent weeks going to doctors trying to find out what I had and why I was gaining weight and was so weak I could barely walk. Very long story short, on February 10th I passed out in my house on my way to get a muscle biopsy. My friend Farah was there and David . They called 911. I remember being rushed to the hospital. What happened has been told to me because I do not remember. Truth of the matter is nine months ago I was the sickest person in the USA. I had an auto immune disease called Dermatomyositis. It is a disease that destroys all the muscles in your body. It usually gets diagnosed early and is treated with a drug called prednison. The doctors had never seen it destroy a heart no less in two weeks. The day after I entered the hospital I revived an L- Vat and the next day a heart pump. I was put ok a transplant list and given days to live. I was being kept alive by machines. I was a woman with no heart. No one expected me to live. Just to add a little more to my dramatic saga I had served my husband of 25yeats with divorce papers. I also have a daughter who was afraid of her dad and at the time was eleven. On February 21st my birthday, I had a heart transplant. My body had blown up to 170lbs. I had entered the hospital at 140and my beachbody weight had been 110lbs. Half the heart team did not want to give me a heart although it was a perfect match because they did not think I would survive. The other half wanted me to get the heart as an experiment because no one in the world had seen the disease progress to such a state. I got the heart of a 17 year old by one vote. I was given the heartamd remember waking up and hearing everyone say I was a miracle, then I was put into an induced coma . Before I faded away I heard people saying keep fighting , we have done everything we can now it's up to you. My body blew up to 200lbs. I was on a ventalator, feeding tubes.and everything else you can think of. I woke up about six weeks latter trapped inside myself. Unable to breath on my own eat , talk, walk , or move in any way. All I could do was see think and hear. It was worse than hell or whatever one might imagine that to be. I used to lie on bed in the icu and and watch TV 24/7. What is on the tube all the time? Beachbody, of course! I would lie on bed and envision myself being able to do hip hop abs and px90 ------I did the workouts in my mind over and over. I saw myself doing it. As the tubes came out and I started to relearn how to speak , eat , breath , sit , stand and finally walk I kept shocking the doctors. No one thought I would get out of a wheelchair. Now nine months latter I can do my workouts at home. I still can not make it through a workout without brakes but I am getting there. I had gone from 200lbs to 85.lbs. And had nouscles at all. God brought me back and gave me a new life for two reasons I believe. One to be Jade's mother and two to share my story and inspire others. I left the hospital on April 28th in a wheelchair and am now doing cardio an hour a day and my Dvd"s. My body had been through so much and today (Nov 2) I almost feel like me --- the same, bit so different. I am doing volunteer work at Cedars Cibai Mefical Center, working with transplant patients and their families. I am going to become a spokesperson for the American Heart Asss.and hope to become an inspirational speaker. I hope to write a book and and share my story. Beachbody is the first community I am sharing my story with. No one expected me to survive--except my daughter--Jade. This could happen to anyone but it happened to me. I know if I had not been in such good physical condition before the disease I would not be here today. I was in good enough shape to fight and survive, the desire to feel my body strong again helped me to keep going even when things seemed impossible. I am back with a lot learned. Eat right and stay in shape ----- it could save your life, it saved mine. My Progress My Fitness Goal: Build Muscles Transformation Story
