I was born in Rochester, NY. The first person to go to college in all three sides of my family. I was not the first person to finish, though. After 9 years, I was a Doctor of Pharmacy with 2 residencies, and a clinical psychiatric practice.

One day, I went back to my office, fell into my chair, and said out loud to no one, "I only learned a way of seeing". I was devastated, and struggled to find other ways of "seeing". I studied a little chinese medicine, Reiki, and various other "complementary" systems. If it wasn't for this knowledge, I probably would not have made the choices that allowed for my healing.
Those years were difficult, but I learned a lot about myself, people, and life. We live in an amazing and beautiful world. I was mostly a runner, cyclist, and hiker. I took off to the wild places whenever possible.
I live in Albuquerque, NM now, and work for the New Mexico Poison Control Center. I have been writing more, and started making art and sculpture. Not a lot, and probably not great, but I'm happy. I am even making a 20 min documentary film for a toxicology meeting next year. Never done that before either.

I was diagnosed with MS 10 years ago. By 2003 I had lost 25% of my body weight, and just began having difficulty walking, and talking. An Ayurvedic physician stopped my symptoms, and we started slowly rebuilding me. My goals are different than most others here. I am building stamina, and aerobic conditioning. I have been working out with some cardio, and weights on and off for the last 2 years, and tolerate that well. Used OTC testosterone precursors on and off for 5 months last year, because I was making no progress after 2 month in the gym. I used about 1/3 dose, and only on workout days. Then just 2-4 caps/MONTH (which was the recommended DAILY dose). Helped tremendously, but that is another goal - to not use them at all. In case you are wondering, it is not unusual for men with MS to get testosterone prescribed for them to help them maintain weight. I used it to gain weight, specifically muscle. I was hoping the function would come with the mass, but only partially.
What is left for me to do? I look better than I function. I want to function better. To go skiing, and hiking/backpacking again. I want to be able to sprint again.
My treatment has been guided by myself, using alternative practicioners as consultants. It would be great to meet someon on this site in a similar situation.
