I am the youngest of four. one sister and two brothers. My Mother will be turning 78 at the end of June and could be in much better health than she is. Dad however succumbed to his Bladder Cancer on April 10. I am missing him greatly! My mother struggles with healthy habits but I truly believe it is just age talking. I have been told that I don't look like my siblings and I have to say that it is due to me not participating in my genes. I refuse to follow in my families footprints.
I have always, with the exception of the temperary insanity years of when my boys were born, tried to stay active and take care of myself. My days now are filled with working in the corporate offices of the largest independently owned Mortgage company, mixing in workouts before, during and after work, then off to various different social events in the evenings and weekends.
My hobbies seem to have gone by the way side but I am going to take them up again. Several years ago my boys got me into building small wooden ships. No, not the ones in the glass bottles. The first one took me a year and a half to construct. It is made out of 15 different exotic hard woods and has about 720 tiny little brass nails in the hull alone. It is gorgeous. I have made two more since then with my sites on doing two more. I also enjoy wood carving.
I have been known to do all my own repairs, that is if I can get my hands on the right tools. I have roofed a house, fixed electrical problems and also a little plumming. My last project was replacing the motor in my passenger side door of my car that operates the window. I shovel my own sidewalks and have been known to help dig out others in our frequent snow falls. I am not one that can sit back and wait for someone to do it for me. :) I love to cook but it is hard to do that for just one now. However, the Pasta Fagioli recipe in the MBD kitchen is fabulous. I am an novice photographer (but don't have good pics of myself) want to take watercolor classes, skydive, maybe bungy jump a time or two. Too much to do and not enough time.
My youngest son has just graduated with a major in Theatre and Acting at UNC in Greeley Colorado (and has just moved back home) Like every other parent alive I wish him nothing but the best. Best part is that I have him doing P90X with me.
My older son has been married four years now to a beautiful, strong woman. They bought their first home at the age of 21 and are doing pretty well for themselves. I think their thinking of trying to make me a grandmother within the next couple of years so my goal is to definitely not look like one. :) He is currently making his way through boot camp at Ft Benning GA. A soldier with the 198 Infantry in the CO National Gaurd, Special Forces. His ambition is to be a member of our elite, the Green Beret. Please keep him in your prayers. My goal is to be the youngest lookin and best shaped mother at his graduation at the end of August.

ok, my transformation . . . probably starts way back as a little girl. Being the youngest of four I have always followed in the footsteps and been compared to my older siblings, specifically an older athletic brother that excelled. That was the beginning of my yoyo lifestyle.
We always made meals from scratch, with butter, fresh whole milk that you had to scrape the cream off the top, red fatty meat, sugar etc. and in fact our lifestyle seemed to revolve around food. Bar-B-Q's, hosting cocktail and dinner parties, ice cream socials, etc etc etc.
I love food but struggled with the weight gains. Mom would come home with the fad diet of the month. Liguid diets, protein diets, Atkins, then there was the Scarsdale diet that was fabulous but not long lasting. How about the cabbage soup one! Yuk.
I was active but always struggled. After getting married and having my boys so close together (13 months) didn't help matters. Finally signed up with one of those diet centers and had to drive in and weigh in Monday through Friday and was scared to death over the weekend to see what Monday would bring. They had me only eating 500 calories a day. I did lose all the baby weight but was given bad habits. It wasn't until I found this Life Enhancement Clinic that I discovered I had an underactive thyroid (most likely due to the fad diets) also found out my body was not matabolising protein well and was not producing a normal balance of hormones. All that money I was spending on personal trainers was so aggrevating . . until I was put on natural supplements to boost my bodies own natural production. I lost 27 pounds in three and a half weeks and was finally able to see all the hard work I had been doing.
Now I just struggle with the balance of work, exercise and personal life. I am a divorced, empty nester so you would think it be easy? Fat chance. No one but myself to be accountable too, so it is easy to cheat.
I am now three time P90X participant. Yes, two times I have started and not been able to finish. First time I rolled my ankle in week seven playing racketball, second time around I was hit by a car in week nine. I start day one tomorrow and I would say histories odds are in my favor and I should finish at the end of August. WooHoooooo!!!!
The excercise is great once you get started and the feeling I have after is nearly euphoric. Now if I can just get my diet back on track I'll have no problems.
