Hi, I'm 39 and am a Brit living in Florida with my wife Paige and our two awesome kids Colby (7) and Abby (4). I've always been into sports and used to do a lot of long distance running at school and then several forms of martial arts. I work in IT Sales out of my house with occasional travel, so life was kind of sedentary. Completing a first round of P90X and becoming a coach has given me a

I'd always been very lean and only weighed 140 lbs into my early 20's at 5 ft 9 inches. By the time I met my wife at 29 I'd crept up to a healthy 161 lbs. Life stayed the same and then our kids came along which definitely switched our priorities. I started creeping up some more and was hinting at 170 lbs by the time I was 35. My wife got me into weight lifting and my competitive nature drove several injuries. In 2007 I needed hernia surgery and my weight hit 180 lbs by the time I turned 38. I got back in the gym and gently bought it under control but then had a shoulder injury in July of 2008 and pretty much gave up. By Jan 2009 I weighed in at 184 lbs. But worse, my pretty reliable 32 inch waist was at a bloated 38.5 inches - how did I put 6.5 inches on my waist? I felt depressed, ate for the comfort of a bloated belly and was absolutley disappointed in myself and the example I was setting my kids.

I'd seen the P90X commercial a couple of times and so I ordered it to help get me out of this funk. I started my first round on 19th Jan 2009 and was immediately introduced to the message boards by my coach, which let me know I wasn't in this thing alone. The workouts were very challenging, but the variety and stretching left me injury free! I started seeing decent changes every 30 days and by day 90 I had taken 5.5 inches of my waist and developed a visible 6-pack. I'd also learnt the discipline of sticking to a program and working out on a consistent basis, even if I had to travel. The best benefit has been the imporvement in quality active time I spend with my family - though a day in a Disney Park still leaves me with tired legs :)
