In my teen years, I became interested in military history and decided to join the U.S. Army Reserves as a means of learning more about soldiering. Infantry school was an odd choice and a tough-go for a scrawny, 139-lb, 6 ft. 1 in. weakling. But I managed to graduate (barely making the push-ups) and at 18 I was in the best shape of my life--leaving Fort Benning at 151 lbs.
In the twenty-plus years since, I never really worked out again. I was a full- time coach potato, and an additional fifty-five pounds of fat had arrived along with years of playing Dungeons & Dragons. Finally, this year I saw of picture of myself and decided to draw the line here and no further!
With the help of counseling and the support of my loved ones, I starting practicing portion control and dropped a few pounds. But fitness consisted only of the treadmill. The Road to Wellness really began when I attended Tony Horton's 2007 Fitness Camp.
The teachings of my cousin-in-law(!) have inspired me to reclaim my life. I have joined my wife in her very active lifestyle and have enjoyed every minute of it. I just started Power 90 and can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
