Hello! I am Gilbert "CrazyGil" Lingenfelter, and I'm a fit 38 year old. My nickname, "CrazyGil", was given by a great friend of mine which exemplifies my tenacity toward rock climbing and really training hard. I've been working as a systems analyst for a non-profit, biomedical organization supporting database applications: meaning I do nothing but sit on my butt for 8 hours a day.

I had a gym membership many years ago, but I never found it to be any fun. I had no one to workout with, or to keep me accountable; therefore, there was no motivation to keep going. Also, over the past several years, my job has moved between several office buildings, and I never had a good gym to go to during the day to workout. Knowing I needed to do something fitness wise, I started rock climbing on my 33rd birthday, and have been doing so 3-4 days a week for the past several years, and absolutely love it. There is a lot of support and camaraderie amongst the climbing community which has kept me going, and getting into great shape. Although I was in great shape (as you can tell by my day 1 photo), I felt as though I was hitting a fitness plateau. I loved the idea of using bodyweight exercises to develop gymnast type strength, but found it difficult to find great exercise routines. Also, not having an elaborate weight system, I needed something that was basic and simple. I then caught a glimpse of the P90X infomercial one late night, after coming home from the climbing gym. First thought was, "who is this wild and zany guy talking about muscle confusion?" I've known about the concept of muscle confusion, but was never really able to incorporate it into my training routines. I then checked out the website - forward, backward, sideways, and upside down - and found what I was looking for all along. Thinking I was in pretty good shape from climbing, I popped in the first DVD (Chest & Back, and Ab Ripper X), and was completely floored by how intense the workout was, and I could barely make it through Ab Ripper X. I have since noticed GREAT improvement over the past year; and YES, I am now able to keep up with Ab Ripper X. P90X has been the best thing to have ever come my way. Over the past year I have also incorporated P90X, Tony Horton's One on One, and CheLEAN Extreme into the mix. I have had lot's of fun and continued success with each program. Although it was not my goal, I have slimmed down 10 lbs and shed 3% body fat. So, if a skinny guy like me can do that, then I know anybody can.
