Transformation Story

I hope my transformation never ends. It has been a great ride so far and I hope to help others have this same experience.

I hope my transformation never ends. It has been a great ride so far and I hope to help others have this same experience.

I have always considered myself to be relatively fit. I’ve never really had an “over weight” problem. I’ve always been active with sports, work and outdoor activities. What I didn’t know was how to properly take care of my body as it (I) began to age. At age 40 I had to have back surgery because I over exhorted myself moving some machinery. I thought I could do with my back what a forklift should have done. A few years later I had surgery to remove kidney stones due to lack of water intake into my body over a long period of time. Then a few pounds a year would just start to hang around and not go away.

Ever since my back injury I have had varying degrees of discomfort in my back. The surgery helped but didn’t provide 100% relief from the pain. It was March of 2008 when I stepped on the scale and found myself heavier than I wanted to be at 191 lbs. (6 ft.) and decide to do something about it. I would alternate every other day between a stationary bike and weight lifting.

By July 2008 I had seen some success but not to the extent I was hoping for. I was introduced to P90X by an employee of mine while at a trade show. He invited me to workout with him in the hotel room and I thought “How hard can this be?” Let me just say I was grateful he thought ahead and brought an extra Recovery Drink to share with me. Over the next few days while working together at the show I was drilling him about the P90X program, nutrition and supplements. I was hooked. I joined Team Beachbody and my employee became my coach.

I started the P90X journey on September 1st, 2008 and it has been a great ride. When I completed the 90 days I had lost the 21 lbs. I wanted to and gained muscle and endurance. My core has strengthened resulting in almost a complete alleviation of back discomfort. I have the hope that after completing my second round of P90X that it will result in a complete alleviation of my back pain.

I now have the knowledge of how to properly take care of my body. I eat clean, healthy foods (most of the time). I’ve learned to drink lots of water which among other things will help to eliminate the reoccurrence of a kidney stone.

I know this is a journey that will never end for me. My transformation has been more than physical. It has been about embracing challenge and continuing to push myself to be the best me I can be. It would make me very happy to help someone else have this experience. I believe it is possible for anyone who is willing to embrace the challenge too!

It seems I am always on the run, but making time to exercise and talk to others about its benefits, is a major priority. It is my commitment to fitness that allows me to have the energy to get everything else done without feeling whipped.

I hope I can be an inspiration and help make a difference for other busy people by demonstrating that it is possible to be fit and healthy even when life moves fast.
