Six years ago this February, I quit smoking. I was paranoid about gaining any more weight. I have always been skinny. In my 20's, I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight. In my 30's if I was putting on weight, I'd only eat one double whopper and skip the milkshake, or only eat a 1/2 pound bag of Hershey's kisses. In my 40's I had reached 234 pounds and it was all in my gut and butt. I was up to a 40" waist. So I started dieting and exercising. (Mostly weights), then walking, then running. The more I ran, the more I could eat what I wanted and still manage my weight. I dropped to the 180's. As summer came (and my pace slows down, I started gaining a little weight, then I broke my foot (not running related - everyone asks that!) No running for 3 months! I peaked in the low 200's. That's when I saw the P90X infomercial. Now that I thought of myself as an athlete (but didn't completely look like one) I knew I wanted to do this. I got the package and couldn't start the workouts due to my foot (I didn't want to have to skip days. I had already gone back to weights when I broke my foot. Now, I added the Ab ripper workout and the Yoga once a week. I also started following the diet. I didn't realize how sloppy my eating habits had gotten. Now I'm back in the 180's with a little more definition and really looking forward to having Abs for the first time in my life.
