I'm 31 years old, married with no kids but 5 wonderful pets that I love dearly! In April of last year I graduated from the National Personal Training Institute to pursue a dream I'd had for years of becoming a personal trainer. I left my job of 13 years as a CNA and now work in a local health club. I'm lovin' it! I became quite unhappy in nursing and stayed with it for too long! Not that I didn't love my job at times, but it became imperative for me to help improve people's health, longevity and quality of life rather than being on the tail end of it (I worked in skilled nursing homes). A few years ago I was in great physical shape, was eating right and felt great. I had lost nearly 100 pounds over the course of a couple of years (I'd been overweight since I was a kid and come from a family of overweight people). During that lifestyle change I developed a love of fitness and everything there was to know about it. That was when I knew I wanted to be a personal trainer. Unfortunately, I took to long to pursue that dream. I got married, I got a little TOO comfortable, stopped working out and started gaining weight. My husband's diet is-and always has been-horrendous, and here I was, eating what he was eating while remaining relatively sedentary (I'm a pescetarian, but that leaves a lot of room open for junk food!), and I'd managed to pack on a good 65 lbs. of that back over the last few years! I was so out of shape I barely made it through the grueling workouts and client/trainer simulations that were the practical portion of my schooling. I've owned P90X for almost a year now, but I was in no shape before to do the program. When I got my certification, sure I had the knowledge, but I was a 5"3", 175 lb. very out of shape woman, and I knew I couldn't be a good role model or motivator as a trainer if I didn't practice what I preached! I've been working out regularly and eating healthy again for the last few months. I feel stronger, I've lost fat and gained some overall toning and I'm at a healthier 130 lbs. | ||||||||
