I am here to help you. I am excited about getting back a-hold of my life and I hope to inspire & encourage others. How I came about the decision to “get my life back” – I don’t know if this has to do with turning 40 this year(2007), but I am a few years over-due for a fitness regimen. I am a Civil Engineer in Northern CA. I am a Born-again Christian. I married at the age of 32 to my lovely wife Tammy (Screen Name TammyMom). We currently (July 2009) have 4 Children ages 7, 5, 2+ and 9-months. Growing up I was very active and participated in gymnastics at a young age. In my high school years I was always involved in one sport or another. I was doing some sort of exercise/practice each day. Soccer, football, snow skiing, track, golf…. I like to compete and I enjoy sports. Playing sports and being “under” coaches helped develop a work ethic that transferred into all areas of life. The sports helped in establish a disciplined lifestyle. In my College days I stayed fit mostly due to being a member of my University’s ski team. Work outs were great, but mostly Fall & Winter seasons. The best shape for Skiing that I was ever in was during my fifth year in College (extra 2 terms to finish the Engineering Degree) when I was a ski coach for a local high school. The “dry” land workouts that I created were demanding and since I was watching to make sure the “kids” were doing okay, I was not attentive as to how much pain I was in. (and the coach does not let anyone out do him.). I did not ski at all, but when I had the chance to forerun a Slalom course I could tell that I was strong and it felt good. In my late 20’s and early 30’s I actually had an opportunity to use some of my gymnastics background with some 50’s dancing and drama performances with a group at church. It was a blast, and I even began to train ballet, jazz and hip-hop. Ballet proved to be one of the most difficult “sports” I have ever done. It was much easier to take a football and run towards the end-zone than to hold my “core” steady. I also was into playing Racquetball (as in College) and snow skiing. At age 32 (1999), I married lovely wife Tammy. And as we started a family in 2002, activity was reduced to doing the things I enjoyed like Hiking, Racquetball, and Summer Softball League for my church team were I was the “Young Guy”, occasionally Scuba Diving, and Church & Christian Walk. Getting older and a little less active I was no longer as fit. If I had to miss lunch at times I would joke with my wife that it was okay because I was carrying some “snack packs”. This is what I called the extra weight that hung at my sides. With the combination of a desk job, being older and doing much less activity, I had to do something. I did a little Kathy Smith Step Aerobics and a Tae-Bo workout which I liked. I even spent some time on my road bike mounted on a stationary stand. Nothing was all that consistent though. I was becoming less fit and even finding myself easily injured (back, neck, hamstrings...) With three young children at the time, I needed to halt the daily depletion of my health. If not for any other reason I have to stay fit for my wife and kids. I look forward to being a soccer or sport coach and being fit. Also I anticipate being a better softball player with less chance of injury. April 4, 2007 - Round 1 was exciting, tough and enjoyable. Now I am heading in again because it gives me another scheduled goal to complete. And my end date will be 3 days before my 40th Birthday. I plan to be the most fit I have ever been. June 2007 - It is still a challenge. Softball season started and I feel great. With my waist back to 31" the Baseball pants feel much better. April 2008 - W/O with my wife (fourth child due Sept). 20-week ultrasound, the technician said that Tammy was very easy to get an image from. We commented also that the image was much clearer than previous children. We thought it must be due to new equipment, but the equipment had not changed, he said that he could get good images because there was not a thick fatty layer. She loved hearing that. Thank you Beachbody. May 2008 – Became a coach. Reverse the trend, do more than exist. August 2008 - Knee injury Feb 08; surgery (Meniscus & Cartilage) on 6/30/08. Recovery has been amazing. I owe it all to the Beachbody Workouts. March 2009 - W/O w/ Tony Horton on the Beach. Amazing time! My Progress My Fitness Goal: Transformation Story

Back in mid December 2006, I was up at 3:30am one morning/night comforting our two-month old newborn (Child #3). With her calmly sleeping on my chest, I flipped on the “tube” and saw the now famous (at least to me) “Tony Horton” and crew in an infomercial on P90X. There were testimonies of 50-year olds in great shape. And Tony was older than myself and yes while he looked good, it was his energy level that I missed having. Furthermore the fact that the Jon Congdon & Carl Daikeler were not just selling the product, but also Pushed Play. I stayed watching (and Tevo) because it was not a program that promised “Great AB’s in 5 minutes”. These people were working. I called the 800 number thinking why am I so excited, am I being impulsive. Later that morning I said to Tammy, “Honey, I did something”. I replayed to her the portion of the commercial that I saw. It was strange for me to be this excited about a program, but it was real to me and my wife could see my enthusiasm. She ordered Project You after searching the Beachbody web site. Her baby weight is falling off. P90X was the goal and challenge oriented program that I need at this time. The Beachbody web site has also brought continued encouragement. The Forum is a great place for information as well as the BB Newsletter. The WOWY buddies have meant more to me than I expected, I often finish strong for my buddies. Started P90X on January 3, 2007 (Round 1) Diet is going well. I always say that we have always been “good” eaters. We are not going through the butter as quickly as before. My wife is a great little baker and I think (well I know) she misses baking muffins, scones and cakes. We love to watch Food Network and I can say that cooking/baking is a hobbie of mine. Separating the yokes was not a problem (I gained this “talent” after attempting to perfect an excellent Tiramisu or my other favorite, Crème Brulle). It was a mental challenge to toss the egg yokes down the drain. With Tammy’s PY program (which allows her the one egg yoke) a morning breakfast could “harvest” almost a dozen egg yokes. It was in the first week that I said, “These are not going to waste, I am making some Crème Brulle.” One justification was that at least I was not eating the yokes with my morning eggs. Well it was nice to be out of week ones “temptations”, I knew that I was selling myself short with that all be it beautiful dessert. To do a great Plyometric work out and burn 1000 calories, just to “spend” a good portion of those calories with a dessert later that day was not for me or truly “Bringing IT” in the diet sense. Weeks 1 through 3, I scored myself a 4 most days due to combining one egg yoke in with my 6 egg whites Say the meal score is about a 4 due to eating 1-egg yoke per 6 or seven egg whites. Also often a few (only 2) of Tammy’s homemade cookies (the best one could have). We are both concentrating on portion sizes. Week 3 – Strong Cardio struggled to stay with the previous week’s strength numbers. Got a really sore left shoulder Week 4 – Reading Scott F.’s P90X diary helped me to continue to further modify the diet. It was easy to say that we ate healthy, especially compared to the U.S. population. But I was not eating “clean” X-Style. Come on drop the 2 after dinner homemade cookies. Done, Bring-IT. The P90X story of Scotty F. helped to encourage me to really do the whole program to my utmost, both exercise & diet. No more yokes with the eggs Week 5 – AB Ripper went surprisingly better than I thought the first time back. Getting some physical therapy on left shoulder Day 30 – Only wish we had some more snow here in the Sierra’s so that I could go test my increased endurance out on the mountain with some skiing Kenpo X – Probably still turn the other cheek when we are cut in front of by another family while in line at a Theme Park (of Course this would not be a line for “food” if that is what they still call it at the parks). But if ever in a dark ally and the family is attacked I will mean business, and I’ll get a good work out while I am at it. Yoga X – Started off with a gymnastics and dance background I was okay with flexibility. This was truly a challenge like all the other workouts. It is so encouraging to grow in strength and balance each time Yoga X comes around Favorite Day: Plyometrics On February 26, 2007 I won $1000 in the Million Dollar Body Game by just logging in my workout. I was so surprised. Day 60 - It was Legs & Back + AB Ripper X. In previous weeks I had always done the Legs & Back first and my tired legs brought the AB workout down. I did the AB Ripper first this day and it was the first time that I did the complete w/o and with the bonus Mason Twists. (No arms in the air for In & Outs and Bicycles yet). I was excited, what a feeling! Really enjoying the journey. Tammy peaked in on the workout one day. First thing she said was “that Tony seems a bit hyper.” I may be the same, because I did not notice. I guess that is part of what I love about him. Looking forward to being stronger for softball, hiking, and racquetball and last but most importantly my growing young family. The P90X program has re-kindled the commitment and disciple that had been missing in my life the past few years. It is great to have the motto of Decide Commit Succeed “spill” over into more areas than exercise and diet. My accomplishments through the Beachbody has not been losing a lot of weight, but rather the success is being able to be fit and active with my family for many years to come. I may be like many that remember more active days and are seeing a “slippery slope” ahead. Well, with hard work and these programs things can change. I plan on being fit for life and thanks to P90X, I can achieve that goal. This is better than any investment that I can make in my future for me and for all my loved ones. BRING IT!
