I am a father of two girls, and a professor. I stupidly decided to forego exercise as I worked on my dissertation, and now I am having to work extra hard to lose weight. My goal is to lose over 100 pounds (120 would be nice).

So this is my second day on this quest. At the risk of sounding prideful, I see myself as the hero of this adventure. But I am a fallen hero. There was a time when I was healthy. I was in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1992 to 1996. During this time I was extremely fit and ate healthy foods (as healthy as a college student can get for the money).
After my enlistment, I took a break from working out due to an ankle injury. I also took a break from eating healthy. I worked out of my car for long hours and ended up eating out multiple times each day. This was horrible for my health.
In 2001, I went to grad school. Boy was I swamped! I spent hours and hours in front of a computer screen crunching numbers. I was not spending as much time with my family and very little exercising (walking). Something had to give. Being the wise fool that I am, I decided to completely quit any exercise or healthy eating plan. I figured I could get it back after I finished school.
Well, I finished school last year. Here is what I have gained: 2 masters degrees, 1 doctorate, and approximately 110 pounds overweight.
