My physician told me I should take meds, but stubborn me wanted to get it down on my own. Well, I dropped my LDL 30 points from 187 to 157 but still not low enough.I was given until September 2008 to lower it to acceptable levels.
Then I read Jason Scheff's myspace blog. Jason wrote about P90X and how MDB changed his life. Eating healthy and exercise was the key plus community and accountability on his get healthy journey. Well, I've done things on my own for so long that the idea of sharing my goals to a community of people scared me. Then the more I thought about it I realized that by sharing you basically put it in writing, like a contract to yourself. Legal and binding that you follow through with.
April 21, 2008 I began my start with exercise by logging into WOWY. The program I started with Turbo Jam, gave me a laugh as I tried to learn all the moves. As hard as I was laughing it gave me such a great workout that I was dripping at the end.
Fast forward to June 20, 2008 I am so enjoying working out that I joined up to be a "coach" or as Jason calls it "motivator". I have been encouraged by everyone's sharing and I feel better and clothes are also better fitting.
As cholesterol has no symptoms or gauge to let me know if what I am doing is working to lower my LDL level. The weight scale is my only means to see if I am getting results. Hopefully losing weight is a way of knowing that something is going right. If taking meds becomes a reality, I'll be doing it with a healthier lifestyle of diet and exercise. I'll find out in September.
