I have always been interested in health and nutrition but haven't always followed it. For years I suffered with terrible symptoms of hypoglycemia, a low blood sugar problem. There were many physical symptoms like shakiness, depression, waking up several times a night, headaches, migraines, moodiness and so many more. The simplest tasks exhausted me. I hated not "feeling up to" the daily tasks I wanted and needed to do. Once it was finally confirmed that I was hypoglycemic, my diet changed considerably for the better and I was told to start exercising. I began eating a well balanced, healthy diet and things began to change ~ I felt so much better! But the exercise never happened. I thought exercise was boring, no fun and I was doing fine now with out!! Because of the changes I made in my diet I had more energy and I returned to the happy person I once knew. Then in the fall of 2006 I started experiencing a majority of those symptoms again. Along with a weight gain of 41 pounds in 16 months, this time I was diagnosed with Severe Insulin Resistance (I was a stones throw away from becoming diabetic)and told that my health was getting completely out of control. (With the Insulin Resistance test, a 2 is considered diabetic, I was at 2.36.) So my diet was altered a little more, I was put on medication and was told that weight loss and a CONSISTENT exercise routine was a must. One day at lunch my dear friend Mary told me about Team Beachbody workouts and suggested I give them a try. I went home and ordered Slim In 6 and got started right away. I've never been a morning person but now I'm up and logging into WOWY with my Success Buddies, every weekday morning at 5am CT (6:30am CT on weekends) and have found this to be extremely motivational. Your buddies will see if you actually show up or not!! To date, I have lost 33 pounds and 10 inches off my waist alone. And I'm in the best shape of my life. My cholesterol, which was 212 when it was last checked, is now 163. My insulin results while on medication (no exercise) was 5.37. I have been off of medication since the end of August 2007. My most recent test results with diet and exercise (no meds) is 6.03. Another great change is that I am no longer having back pain. I was making frequent trips to the doctor for a slipped disc. Of course he told me quite some time ago that exercise would strengthen the muscles to help keep the disc in place!! Why didn't I listen sooner!?! I feel great, I have more energy and self confidence then I've had in years. I can honestly say that I'm having fun exercising and I feel wonderful. And believe me when I tell you that exercise and fun are 2 words I never used in the same sentence before Team Beachbody!! Now - it's time to just focus on better eating AND exercise. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, good fats, lean meats, fish and WATER! Back to basics and common sense! :-) Team Beachbody came along at the perfect time!!
