I've been a bigger guy all my life. My Dad's side of the family are all bigger guys. High blood sugar, blood pressure, and diabetes run heavily on his side. The first time I can remember really realizing I had a weight issue was in middle school. I can specifically remember coming inside from a gym class and recently been weighed. I remember thinking to myself "Oh my god, I weigh 200 lbs. I'm fat". I think those were the years I first remember being ridiculed relentlessly. I would feel awful about myself and get really angry with myself. This also caused me to become very shy. Pasta and cesar salad were my favorites growing up. I always say if carbs were the vegetables of the world I'd be skinny mini. Sometimes I can remember eating a 1lb box of pasta in a day. Then feeling sick to my stomach. Not knowing why the heck I ate that much to just make myself sick. My eating habits weren't always so bad. I didn't like sweets that much and I tended to stay away from junk food. Portion control was my biggest issue. When in my mid-teens I got heavily immersed in music. I got into rock and heavy metal and I've been a musician ever since. One downfall to being in a touring band is that the lifestyle (especially food) is especially hard to keep healthy. When you're playing shows almost every night and getting winded on stage during your set. Having your legs cramp up while standing on stage. This is a very important and active part of my life and will be for a long time. Quite possibly even a professional career. While I was playing in my first band I remember seeing the Power 90 infomercial. I really felt inspired so I ordered the program. I remember the first day, getting on the floor, doing downward dogs and swing-thrus to runner's pose and thinking "Oh my god I'm going to die". I was having a really hard time sticking to the program just because I was working all the time, doing things with the band, and going to college for my associate's degree. I couldn't find 25-40 minutes per day to work out with Tony. To top it off I lived in a very very small room, in which the ceiling was only 2 inches higher than my head. So doing moves like swimmer's press I had to get on my knees to do. I honestly attempted Power 90 at least five times. It was just my lack of time, energy, motivation, and support that made me crash time after time. This started back in 2006 and went on all the way up till September of 2008. In March of 2008 I started dating my first girlfriend, Michaela. We were both really shy so it was hard to get the communication barrier broken but we've since surpassed it and I've never been happier. She's the love of my life and I couldn't picture being with anyone else. The first summer we spent together was rough on me because she was going to the beach and I was too embarrassed to go. I told myself that for 2009 I WOULD be in good shape and feel confident and take my shirt off and enjoy the beach with my beautiful girlfriend. I wanted to look good for her. In September of 2008 my Grandfather who I live with had a massive heart attack. I woke up that morning at 5:30 AM to my Grandmother banging on my bedroom door yelling "Chris, do you know CPR? Grampy won't wake up". I woke up and thought I was dreaming. My Grandfather passed away that day on September 3rd, 2008. Just two days before my 22nd birthday. He was only 62. I couldn't believe my Grandfather who I lived with my whole life, who was almost like a father to me, had gone so suddenly. Within the next two weeks, my Great Grandfather (his father) had passed away at 91 on September 11th, 2008. I made a dedication to try Power 90 once more. At the same time I went in for my second tattoo. A half sleeve from my wrist up to my elbow. A phoenix. I felt that 2008 was a rebirth for me through the loss of loved one's and the coming of new beginnings. I tried to get through Power 90 one last time. It didn't happen. I'd seen the 10 Minute Trainer infomercial on television. I kept seeing it enough on television that eventually I was like "Wow, this is it". This was the fix to all my problems I'd had in the past with working out. Short but intense workouts so there's no excuse for not doing at least one workout per day. Fast results that I can excel with more workouts if I want. It couldn't be simpler. There's no more excuses. I trust everything Tony Horton is about. I think he's an innovator in the fitness world and I don't believe I would trust anyone the same way I do him. 10 Minute Trainer is going to be THE ONE for me. I know it. I want to have more energy. I know inside I want to be jumping off things and being sporadic. I want to feel better. No more lower back pain, aches and pains that 300 lbs is carrying around with me. I want to have definition and see my abs for the first time in my life. Look good in a bathing suit. I want to be out doing things and WANT to do them. I just want a better quality of life for myself and I want to be around a long time. Be here for my girlfriend, my family, and friends. I'm not going to let my bloodline set my lifestyle. I thank anyone who took the time to be interested in what I'm about and what my goals are. You all must be diligent readers haha. Thank you and I hope I can only inspire others to reach their fitness and lifetime goals.
