My youngest, who is now 16, has Autism, so I've dedicated a great deal of my time to researching the disorder and to helping him succeed at school. I've volunteered for many groups, such as Parent councils, fund raising groups, the Catholic Woman's League, The local Habitat group, the school budget committee etc. Currently I am still active with the CWL and the Count on Me group. I love spending time with my family and friends and I enjoy helping people whenever I can. My main interest (besides music) is cooking. I've been creating my own recipes since I was about 12. I also love woodworking, crafts and anything to do with the great outdoors.

I knew I was not in very good shape, because just carrying the groceries into the house would leave me winded, as would carrying baskets of laundry up the stairs. I was sore and stiff when I got out of bed in the mornings and I seemed to have very little energy. At 48 years of age, I knew that wasn't good and I was heading in a scary direction. I had to do something, but what? I've always hated formal exercising so I kept putting it off or if I tried something, I would soon give up and quit. It wasn't until I watched Jason Scheff (lead singer for the band Chicago) transform himself in front of all his fans on Myspace, that I became convinced "I" could do it too. I purchased the P90 DVD and very slowly got use to it. When I started, I could barely do the warm ups! However, I stuck with it, (mainly with the support of the community here on the bb site) and I was able to lose weight for the first time in twenty years. As that happened, I found the exercises easier and easier to do, and my energy level went up as did my whole outlook on life. I "unofficially" entered Jason's monthly Scheffy Challenges and my motivation to get healthier grew. Just recently I finished up my first official challenge, which lasted three months and I'm very happy with my progress (and am enjoying the great feedback from friends here and at home). Even though the contest is over, I will continue on with the P90 (and the biking, and walking) and I hope to lose another 5 pounds. (small goals work better for me). I've also learned to really watch what I eat and drink and that has made a huge difference in my health. I figure, if I can do it, then anyone can. Good luck and remember, we only get one shot at this life, so we should stack the odds in our favor, and get healthy!
