I have been a dance instructor for the past 20 years, teaching children age 2 through college age Tap, Ballet and Jazz! It is not even considered a job since I enjoy every minute of it! As I have been dancing my entire life, it is no longer exercise to my body! After a rough time in my life and gaining quite a bit of extra poundage, I decided to take charge of my Hello!! I have not only gotten in better shape myself but also have been able to share some of this with my students as well! Thanks to Beach Body and it's wonderful community, I have been getting my life back, one inch and pound at a time!! Since I am past my 6 month anniversary with Beach Body and their amazing products, I would like to begin to share my transformation story! I was the typical emotional eater / yo-yo dieter! As a child, I was thin. As I entered into adulthood, I found that I would eat to “cure” whatever was wrong in my life. When my parents moved cross-country as I was turning 24 and getting ready to get married, my weight jumped from my normal 135 to 143 range up to 165. I was depressed and missed my family so I ate. I gained back some control and got back down to what was normal for me. Then as my marriage headed into a ditch as I was approaching 30, I packed on more than the first time with my weight now nearing the 190’s. Once again, I gained some semblance of control and with the help of Weight Watchers I lost most, but not all, of my weight ending up at around 155. Unfortunately, I never learned how to properly eat to maintain this weight loss. I only knew how to count points in a way to eat one “bad” meal surrounded with lots of “no point” foods to make up for it! I continued the cycle of gain 5 lose 5 for a while. I worked out 5 days a week at a local ladies’ gym and even when my diet was good, I could never seem to get any results but it was a great stress reliever so I continued my gym membership for a number of years keeping my 5 day / no result schedule. Then in October 2005, my father suddenly passed away across the country. Between the devastation and grief and having to help my mom move back here to be with her family, I quickly packed the pounds back on. This time, I was almost at 200 pounds. Just prior to all of this, I met an amazing guy who quickly became my rock during the most tumultuous time of my life. He never once made a comment or complaint about my weight gain, told me he loved me and made me feel beautiful no matter what my size. But as the days, months and even years went on, the weight was taking a toll on my self-esteem, my health and my body itself. I no longer wanted to go out and do anything. I was tired all the time. I also started having intense knee and heel pain. I no longer wanted to dance or even teach my classes! I think I hit rock bottom one night last June when I realized that my costume for this year’s dance recital would not hide my body and no matter how you slice it, I finally realized just how fat I was. I was having my usual bout with insomnia when I saw the commercial for Ten Minute Trainer. I was slightly intrigued but figured it was just like everything else out on the market designed to separate me from my money! Well, as luck would have it, I had 2 full weeks worth of sleepless nights and each night I was able to catch that same infomercial. By the 14th day, I was so convinced that it would work, I finally ordered it. I just had “that feeling” from the moment I placed the order to the day it arrived. I nearly attacked the UPS driver when he rang my doorbell! I immediately opened the package, read the directions and did a workout. It was so great that I did 2 more that night. I re-read the Diet Plan and immediately made a new shopping list for the next day. I decided from “day one” that if it was gonna work, I was going to have to do right or not bother. I joined the online community and used WOWY! I got connected with a fantastic coach (hiya Teresa!) and took advantage of all Beach Body has to offer! I lost 10 pounds the first month. By my 90 days, I had lost 30 pounds, 34 inches and had learned how to eat properly with great nutrition and no fad diets! I have lost 52 pounds to date and can not only fit into all of my old clothes but am officially a size Medium in pants. I am proud to be an active member on the message boards, having made many friends who I know have been a big factor in my success thus far! I have become a Beach Body addict, adding many workouts to my collection! I just recently became a proud P90X graduate! Because of all the wonderful workouts, supplements and great support system offered by Beach Body, I also decided to become a coach and try to “give back” some of what has been given to me! I am still a work in progress but I now know that my goals are all within my reach thanks to these great programs! I have no more body pain, I have increased energy... I have my life back. My students have their teacher back. My man has the girl that he first met and fell in love with back! Thank you Beach Body, Tony, Chalene, my coach Teresa and all my online pals who have and continue to support me on this journey!
