Despite what you might suspect, Jenni did not drag me into this by coercion or threat of violence. (Although she does scare me a little when I watch her doing Kenpo.) Instead, like all intelligent wives, she drew me into her web before I knew what was happening. I’ll explain.
Before Beachbody, I was doing my own thing. A little bowflex here, a little running there, long walks on the beach at sunset... OK, maybe not that last part, we do live in the Midwest! Anyway, I was working out and halfway watching what I was eating, and I would probably be considered in shape for most men my age, but I was NOT in the best shape of my life. Middle aged men can’t be expected to have a six-pack, can they? Then Jenni started P90X. My initial reaction was that P90X was just another way to sell a lot of DVD’s and hawk another fad diet. I was content to sit back and do my own thing, but then I saw her “bringing it” and getting awesome results in the first 3 WEEKS! I was completely stumped that somehow, she was eating more food than before and losing inches! I had to find out if P90X would work for me and made the decision to give it a try. Shortly after that, I began to suspect that it was a brilliantly conceived scheme on her part to collect on my life insurance policy. The first day of plyometrics, I figured this "Tony" guy on the DVD was somehow expecting a cut when I suffered the inevitable heart attack!
Well, that was 2 months ago, and now I look forward to plyometrics. I’ve learned how to make my workouts more intense and productive than ANY workouts I've ever done before. (I am actually thinking of throwing out my Jane Fonda aerobics video.) We have also learned that proper nutrition is the most important aspect of maintaining optimal health and fitness. I’ve lost 4 inches of my “spare tire” and I never feel that I have to go hungry.

The most wonderful thing of all is that I have confirmed that I know the secret to a long healthy life that seems to have eluded modern man. Are you ready? ……..there is no secret. It’s not a pill. It’s not a pressurized rubber suit. It’s not 3 minutes a day on the new, revolutionary, ab-cruncher gadget designed to lighten your wallet more than your waist. You eat right at “press play” every day – plain and simple. I knew that all along. What’s different now is that P90X has taught me what works and what doesn’t. With this knowledge and my own desire to be in the best shape of my life at 53, I’m well on my way.
