I'm 43 years old and live in Northeast Pennsylvania. I recently got married to my very beautiful wife Emily. In my earlier years I would stay in shape by training for half and full marathons (PR half/1:37 full/3:21) and even an occasional triathlon. Over time with career demands and a few injuries I fell out of shape. Lack of motivation to work out set in as well as excessive weight gain. To add to the mix I have a very strong history of heart disease in my family. My father had his first heart attack in his mid 40's, shortly after that he had coronary artery bypass surgery and passed away at the young age of 57. My mother also has coronary disease as well as high blood pressure. Now here's the kicker, I'm a physician assistant and specialize in cardiac surgery. I've been working in this field for over ten years now and see the end result of what can happen to you if you don't take care of yourself. Trust me it's not pretty. Given my family history, poor nutrional habits, lack of exercise, as well as, working in a high stress environment I have no doubt that I was going to end up like my father.I'm tired of feeling out of shape, tired of finding clothes in the morning that will kind of hide my gut. I'm tired of just being tired. So that's why I've decided to make a change, I feel I'm more determined than ever to get in the best shape of my life. I'm hoping to make a few friends on WOWY and hopefully together we'll help each other accomplish our goals. My Progress My Fitness Goal: Transformation Story

Just like alot of other people I saw the P90X advertisements on TV. After researching reviews of the program I decided to purchase it and give it a try. I was excited for it to arrive and to get started. When it arrived I immediately opened it up and thought wow, this looks more involved than I thought. "Am I really ready for this?" I questioned myself wondering how committed would I be if I started the program the next day. I decided to postpone the start of the program until I was better prepared. I knew my biggest hurdle was going to be the nutritional phase of the program So I took some time to really look at this part of the program. I began to ask myself what would it take for me to succeed. Could I really dedicate myself and cook all those meals. See, before P90X I must have eaten out 95% (mostly fast food). The other 5% were simple easy to fix things like a bowl of cereal or a frozen pizza. Before I started the program I even tested a few of the meals to see how long they would take to make and to see if I would enjoy them. So over a few months a put together my own meal plan. Some recipes from the P90x plan, some from the WOWY website and a few other healthy recipes from other sources. The meal plan was quick, tasty and nutritional meals that followed the guidlines of the plan. I'm proud to say now that I eat about 90% of meals in and only 10% of meals out. And when I do eat out, it's no longer fast food, I make better and healthier choices when dining out. So I started my first round of P90X at the beginning of 2009. During the 90 day program I only missed one workout and stuck to my meal plan 95% of the time. I didn't get totally ripped in 90 days but with out a doubt I saw tremendous results. Highlights from the first round include losing 20lbs, decreasing my body fat by 6%, losing 6 inches around my waist and gaining 5 inches of flexibility. But most importantly is feeling good about myself again. I may not have accomplished all my goals in the first round but I still plan on reaching all of them. I'll be pushing play for a long time!
