I guess the tightness in the pants wasn't enough to convince me I had gained weight. It took my fiance to not-so-nicely tell me I had gained weight to finally realize I had, and I needed to do something about it. I went crazy. I was eating 1000-1200 calories a day (with very minimal "cheating") and I was working out a solid hour on the elliptical, 6 days a week. I lost 30 pounds from Sept to the end of the Dec (I did it through the holidays!) but I don't think I did it the safest and healthiest way. I was a nazi about working out and eating, and it finally burned me out. I did become a certified personal trainer, however, with AFPA, which I'm very proud of. Since my burnout, I've off and on been working out, but thankfully the healthy diet pretty much stayed with me. Then I got sick in 2008 with mono and my workout efforts came to a stand still. And my eating habits weren't something to be proud of either. I was tired, and in a whole lot of pain, so I wanted to eat WHATEVER I wanted or thought would make me feel better. After I got over mono, I started working out again and kinda took a break for a few months because I got discouraged...I had platued and didn't have the motivation to actually sit down and plan my workouts to avoid the dreaded plateau. It was easier to just do the elliptical for 35 minutes and then the arc trainer for 25. Didn't work though. So I turned on the tv one day, and the channel that turned on was showing a commercial for P90X. I was skeptical, I'm not a fan of workout videos, but I heard a lot of things that made sense to me that I had read about in my training materials when I was learning to become a personal trainer. I talked it over with my fiance and he agreed to do the program with me and we purchased the DVD's. I thought they were going to be so cheesy! I was SO impressed when I watched the first DVD because not only was it NOT cheesy, but Tony is actually funny and a down to Earth guy! We have just started our first recovery week (on March 29th) and we have seen great improvements! We were so beat and out of shape the first week and since then we have only gotten stronger, and we love it! | ||||||||
