Flashback: It’s summer 2005 and I am moving from Upstate, NY to Florida for a new job as a project manager for a homebuilding company. As a senior on the college lacrosse team, I was listed at 165 lbs. After being out of college for 1 year, I am still in great shape and around my college weight. Shorty after starting my new position, I began to come home and do nothing. The stress of a new job and no support group of an athletic team contributed to my weight gain. Getting the motivation to workout became tougher and tougher. By the start of 2007, the layoffs began as the home market went downhill. I ballooned to 201 lbs. On a 5' 6" frame, that is a lot of extra weight. Every morning, I would dread going into work and every night, I would dread walking up the stairs to our apartment on the 3rd floor. It is not that many stairs but just enough to be slight of breathe and make my heart beat faster. I was getting hit emotionally every day which didn’t help my motivation factor to stay in shape. I tried different workout programs, but could only keep motivated for a week or two. February, 2007. Weighing in around 190 lbs. I got down on one knee and proposed to Regina in front of both families at the ocean. With the excitement of an upcoming wedding, I began to work out and noticed a slight drop in weight. However, this did not last and I went back to old habits of bad lunches, stressful days, and lots of snacking at night. Fast Forward: December 2007. Still hovering around 200 lbs., and my emotional state has gotten worse. Our office has become quieter and quieter due to new layoffs every week. January, 2008. I am part of a 20% reduction in force. With a new house and our wedding quickly approaching, this was not a good situation. It was around this time when I saw some pictures of my friend, Joe, who lost 40+ pounds! I didn't recognize him and asked how he lost the weight. He told me about Team Beachbody and I decided to try it out. I started Power 90 with my fiancé' Regina. The online support group, nutrition guide, and fitness programs were exactly what I needed. Over the next few months leading up to the wedding, we continued our workouts and I got down to 175 lbs. We felt great, had more energy, and really looked forward to working out everyday. To make our wedding day even better, we received many compliments from friends and family who noticed the changes which were due to the Beachbody programs. I decided to be a coach shortly after our wedding. Still unemployed and going on 4 months, but I wanted to help other people reach their goals. My coach, Joey, was there for me every time I needed him. He gave me a great example of how to do things the right way. July, 2008. It has now been close to 7 months of looking for a new job. My coach was telling me of all the benefits of being an Emerald Coach, so I signed up my wife and dad to reach this new coaching level. I looked at this as an investment as well as an opportunity to help the customers I would be coaching. As August approached, I still had no job and was eating into my savings. As of today, I now have over 60 customers and 16 coaches under me banking points every week. I know if I continue my workouts and lead by example like my coach Joey, others will begin to follow. I have also accepted a new job, after 8 months. It is tough to make the decision to go to Emerald Coach(Even with my wife afraid since I didn’t have a job and the additional dollars to stay active every month) but with the support system Beachbody provides, it makes it a lot easier. Over the last few years I have had some big changes; moving to Florida, starting a new job, learning a new business, gaining 35 pounds, buying a first home, getting laid off, getting engaged, getting married, then losing 32 pounds, and becoming a part of Team Beachbody. Beachbody has not only helped me regain control of my weight, but equally important, my emotional state. I am currently at 169 lbs. and my goal is to get back to my college weight, but with more strength and agility. I am also looking forward to motivating and leading by example all those that are looking to reach their physical and financial goals. Thank you Team Beachbody.
