My DH is my soul mate and we have been married for 6 years. My DH is a Naval Officer and we have been a Navy family for the entirety of our married life. Since we are a military family we move a lot. We have lived in San Diego CA, Jacksonville FL, Pensacola FL, and Newport RI. Currently we live by Ann Arbor MI, and in January we are moving to Charleston SC. We LOVE moving around to new places and meeting lots of interesting people. My passion is Running. I have been running since I was 14 but only got serious about it after the birth of my second child in 2004. I have run 5 marathons and 1 Ultra (50K) since 2005. Running is like therapy for me. I love just lacing up my shoes and taking off for a couple hours. However, I am looking for a way to up my fitness level and really change my life in a dramatic way and so I am getting ready to do P90X. I am SO EXCITED! Even though I have been regularly exercising my whole life I have still struggled with my weight for many years. I would work out like crazy but then I would binge on Junk food. I was 25-30 pounds heavier than I am now and could never get control of my eating. I tried all the fad diets and even tried Fasting! I had a really screwed up metabolism and view of food in general. After I had my children I finally started treating myself well and I quit bingeing. I also started training for a marathon and lost the weight I had been struggling with since high school. I am now at my goal weight but I would like to be stronger and more toned. Due to my not-so-great eating, I suffer from mood swings and low energy. I am ready to commit to a fit lifestyle in all areas of my life! It is important for me to be a great role model to my children so they can grow up fit and with a healthy view of food. I am a spunky, fun person and I am always up for an adventure or a challenge. Besides exercising I enjoy reading and cooking, and camping with my family in our 5th wheel.

My story has evolved over the last few years. There was a time when I had such a screwed up view of food that I didn't think I would EVER be where I am today! In highschool I started starving myself, I thought if I were "thin" enough all my problems would go away and everything would be perfect. This was my thought for many, many years. After a year of starving I couldn't take it anymore and switched to Bingeing on huge amounts of Junk food and then throwing it up, i.e. Bulimia. I suffered from Bulimia for about 7 years. I would sometimes Binge and Purge up to 10 times a day. I hated myself, my body and my life. After highschool I floundered and then joined the Navy as a Rescue Swimmer. I wanted the most physically active job I would get to help me lose weight. I excelled at the physical part of the job- most of the time doing more push-ups and sit-ups than the men. I have always loved to workout, and have run regularly since I was 14 yo. However, my eating was still horrible and I wold still Binge and purge so my weight only increased. I felt tired, sick and horrible most of the time because I was either starving myself or overeating. I met my Husband while I was in the Navy and we were married 6 months after our first date. He is truly my soul mate and excepted me and my eating issues, though he didn't understand why I had such food issues. He is my biggest supporter in my quest for health. I soon started drinking to help my depression. And I thought I could avoid eating if I drank all night. I was soon drinking way too much- I blacked out a few times and was even drinking in the morning. My weight was at an all time high of 156 pounds on my 5'5" frame and I felt sick and tired. I sought treatment and went into rehab for Alcohol dependancy and bulimia; I was medically discharged from the Navy. In rehab I learned a lot and once out I never abused alcohol again. Right out of rehab I got pregnant with my 1st child. This miracle gave me the permission to treat myself right. I ate healthy and started walking everyday. I felt awesome being pregant, It was the healthiest I had ever been. After my son was born I still struggled to lose weight. I relasped with my bulimia, although it was not as severe as previously. I also tried slimfast, Atkins and fasting to lose weight- Yuck! Nothing worked and I actualy gained weight. I quickly got pregant with baby #2. Again I ate healthy and exercised and had a great pregnancy. After my 2nd child was born I really comitted myself to working out and eating better. I trained for and ran 2 marathons. I then became pregnant with baby #3. When baby #3 was 3 months old- in Jan 2007, I started marathon training again. I also read a sports nutrition book and ate better. I ran 3 marathons and a 50K this year. I have finally lost the 30 pounds I struggled with for so long. I am now at the point where I am ready to take the final steps in my quest for health. I have chosen P90X to help me transform my body even more. I am also following the Balanced Slim Down plan from the website. I am ready to kick processed foods and white suger (exacly the kind of foods I used to binge on) out of my life forever. I know I will reach my goal, I have the dedication and drive to get there. I have also been to the bottom and I like the view from the top much better!
