In the space of a few years, I went from training for 3-4 sports per year to marriage at a young age, an office job, and then became a single parent with two small children. The next 20+ years were focused on my children and fulfilling their needs with little regard for what was happening to me. The pounds piled on as my children became very involved From high school jock to obese...what happened? In the space of a few years, I went from training for 3-4 sports per year to marriage at a young age, an office job, and then became a single parent with two small children. The next 20+ years were focused on my children and fulfilling their needs with little regard for what was happening to me. The pounds piled on as my children became very involved in outside activities which left little time for home cooking. Fast food and eating in the car became the norm. Through the years I've experimented with different diet and exercise routines but never had the motivation or strong desire to stick with any of them more then a short time. Blessed with excellent health, the only motivation I've really ever had was just my physical appearance. Avoiding mirrors and photos took care of that problem!! However, as I've entered what I consider the second half of my life, I'm realizing that life as an obese senior depending on others for my care is NOT something I want to experience! I also suspect that after more then 20 years of abuse to my body, the health issues are bound to rear their ugly head! Time to take care of myself and I might even be able to outrun my little grandson for a couple more years!, To accomplish this goal, I've recently signed up to be a Million Dollar Body coach and have a passion to help overweight young adults achieve their fitness goals. While I might have lived my earlier life in denial, I don't want anyone else to miss out on all of the great things this life has to offer. Vacations at the pool or beach, family photos, time spent playing WITH your children...not just watching your children play, job opportunities (yes, appearance does matter...shouldn't, but it does), social opportunities, self-confidence, etc, etc, etc. I also want to be a role model to older adults who think they just can't do this health and exercise "thing". If we move just a little more today then we did yesterday, then we're making progress. Exercise doesn't have to be hopping around on one leg and then the other, it can be muting the commercials on TV, getting off the couch and walking around the living room a few times...and a few more times...and a few more...etc! The more you move, the more you want to move and before you know it, you'll be joining, Debbie or Kathy or one of the other trainers! Be sure to email me if you have questions or need encouragement!
