I have always been on and off with my workout schedule. I would commit for
two or three months, end up with a week where I couldn't work out like
normal for whatever reason, and then fall out of it. Then I'd get annoyed with
myself and struggle to get back into the swing of things.
But as of December 2007, I really got myself in gear and haven't stopped! A
girl I used to work with had introduced me to Turbo Jam, and I found that it is
definitely the right workout for me! I enjoy the moves, the fact that it's more
"dance-y" than what I've done in the past, and the music gets me pumped!
It's easy to keep your energy up when you feel like you're doing a dance
routine to songs you actually recognize or can feel a beat to!
I've also made a conscious effort to eat right. I eat breakfast everyday without
fail, and I bring a lunch and two snacks to work so I am not tempted to go to
the evil vending machine. =) We also don't really have any junk food in the
house, which helps a lot! I do cheat once in a while: I LOVE buffalo wings,
burgers, pizza, and other not-so-good stuff. But I make sure to get right
back on track and do my best to watch portion sizes, especially when I am
indulging in something unhealthy.
I don't have your typical "before" picture because I never had a lot of weight
to lose. For me, it was that I have never been comfortable with the flab
around my middle and I have wanted to tone up. That is still a goal I am
working on, but since I've buckled down, my leg muscles have gotten
stronger, my arm muscles are defined (yeah!), and I can feel some tight ab
muscles waiting their turn to be seen! I'm almost there! (And once I get
there, it'll be all about maintaining.)
