For most of my life, I have been able to eat what I want when I want. I have an incredible sweet tooth. I'd much rather have sweets than a meal. But as I approached my 30's my metabolism started to change. I had my first daughter when I was 30 but I managed to lose all of my pregnancy weight except 5lbs. Then I had my second daughter at 32. Again, I kept another 5lbs from the pregnancy. So, I was 10lbs heavier. I would try different diets but once I stopped “DIETING”, I would gain almost all of the weight back. So now, diet is a four letter word to me. I have worked with personal trainers, and purchased fitness DVD's but I have been unable to stay committed. As my daughters got older and started school and other activities, I have just found it very hard to stick to a consistent workout plan. I am constantly running somewhere with the girls or doing homework, or focusing on my career.
In 2007, I was experiencing a lot of stress that was job related so I packed on another 10lbs. After gaining the weight, I started having problems with my blood pressure. I have a family history of hypertension, stroke, diabetes and heart disease. I decided that some changes had to be made because my health was at risk. I was blessed to be able to changed jobs. And in 2008, I started Weight Watchers. With Weight Watchers, I was able to start learning how to eat and the weight started coming off. This motivated me to get moving. So I started spinning 4 -5 times per week. On days I could not spin, I would break out my Tae Bo boot camp DVD's and workout or run on the treadmill. I enjoyed spinning so much that one of my long term goals was to become a spin instructor. I was looking and feeling better than I had in years. I lost 11lbs in about 3 months. Then I developed runner's knee in late September or early October. So I had to stop spinning. I have gone down that slippery slope again and gain the 11lbs back (by March 2009) and have been unmotivated to workout.
In November, I saw the P90X infomercials and decided to purchase it. I thought that this was the thing that I needed to get me going again. I planned to start in January. I have since started and stopped the program on several occasions for several different reasons. Some valid, some not valid but in any event, I have not done it.
More of my transformation story is on the way!
