After spending most of my life athletic and active, I was shocked at how easy it was to slip into chubbiness! With the birth of my son in 2003, the launch of our business and all of the maintenance associated with home ownership, the amount of time I was able to commit to fitness went from several hours a week to zero. As if the normal stresses of being a dad, husband, and green entrepreneur weren’t enough, shortly after my son was born, he experienced serious some medical issues requiring several hospitalizations and surgeries. All this quickly lead to sleepless nights, poor nutrition and an overall sedentary lifestyle.

My gym memberships went by month after month virtually unused – great for the gym, not so great for me. On the rare occasion I was able to get to the gym, it was usually an effort in futility, as the kids would not last long in the child center. So after a 20 minute drive to the gym and a few disorganized minutes spent “exercising”, I’d end up packing up the kids & driving 20 minutes home…all without breaking a sweat!

We went out and bought my wife a mountain bike, thinking we’d pedal around every day, to lose some weight. Yeah, not so much. OK, no problem, we’ll just go out & get my wife some new roller blades & we’ll skate all over to lose some weight. Yeah, not so much. Ah, this was it, keep it simple, we thought, we’ll go for a brisk walk every day, pushing a stroller. So, that would be 0 for three!

Slowly and gradually, my clothes began to get tighter and tighter, until finally, my wife began buying me new stuff in sizes I was embarrassed to have in my closet! I no longer mowed the lawn or washed the car with my shirt off. I was growing more chins than I cared to count and had more rolls than a Thanksgiving dinner table!

With the failures we experienced in trying to get fit again, we decided to just wait until we had more time to rejoin a gym and work out. In the mean time, we’d just continue with our unhealthy diet and mostly sedentary life.

Sometime late in 2007, my brother started talking about this crazy new exercise program he was doing called P90X. P-what? PX something…huh? The nutrition plan, the different exercise move and what he expected to get out of it. Being a total skeptic about this sort of thing – and of course having been so successful in the last 4 years of trying to lose weight – I just did the bobbing-head doll thing when he talked about it. It wasn’t until our families got together for dinner when we noticed how they looked a much more trim and fit after about a month into the program. Dinner was excellent – not what I imagined when eating clean. That pretty much sold us on P90X. We thought that’s it, this is the LAST ONE…if we can’t commit to do something good for us for 90 days, we can’t commit to anything!

So we got P90X, did some grocery shopping, got our ActiVit & Slimming Formula, tub of Recovery Drink & Creatine, Peak Performance bars and set up our gym…which also doubles as our master bedroom. OK, so, we DECIDED…now we had to COMMIT in order to SUCCEED. My wife and I sat down and determined which would be the best day to start, based upon our schedule and the program outline. Day one came, we put in the first DVD, pushed play…and ker-blam, 90 days later....well you be the judge from my 90 day picture above.

Fast forward to today and wife’s face beams when she sees how much better we both look and feel through the fitness and nutrition programs of Million Dollar Body. Thank you to my wife for pushing me as hard as I pushed her, and her support when I need it most.
