At 38 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With that being a wake-up call, I decided to change my eating habits and get more exercise into my life. I did manage at the time to lose 10 lbs. and keep it off, but these past couple of years have been tough with getting my Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, and then losing my little brother and my grandmother. My mother also was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which she just found out runs on her father's side. So with the women in my family getting lumps and bumps, possibly diabetes, high blood pressure (which runs on both my father's and mother' sides of the family) and the fact that I'm tired of lugging around this weight and not being able to keep up with my husband, I decided to get my life back in order and out of the slump I'm in. I enjoy the outdoors, especially working out in my garden and watching the fruits of my labor bloom away, along with bicycling, hiking, taking walks - some of which I haven't done in a long time and would love to do again.

So far, my Beachbody experience has been great and very motivational. I've met a nice group of people on the message board who are both inspirational and great motivators. If they can do, I certainly can do it, too! I began with Kathy Smith's Project You in June 2006 and managed to lose 12 lbs. and 14.75". I felt great afterwards and have since then tried Slim in 6, Yoga Booty Ballet, Turbo Jam, Hip Hop Abs, and Rockin' Body on and off due to a bulging disc. I am now doing ChaLEAN Extreme and really enjoy the workouts. Beachbody's message boards and WOWY have been very helpful in my quest to get back in shape and get my health back together. Here's to moving forward.
Jan 18, 2009: I began ChaLEAN Extreme and am loving every minute of it. Feb 22, 2009: I am loving ChaLEAN Extreme. At first I was very nervous about using the program because of my back, but I have been very careful and have had no problems. I have been slowly increasing the weights I use and surprise myself with the amount I have increased to. I have lost a total of 9.6 lbs. since incorporating portion control and healthier foods now 2 weeks after I began this program. Let's see where I am in 5 weeks when the full 90 days is finished. March 29, 2009: My 90 days are over and I've lost a total of 13-1/2 lbs. and a total of 9-1/2". April 12, 2009: Began Slim Series. First time I'm doing this workout.
