I AM ONE PHYSICAL AWAY FROM LOSING MY CAREER!
Caught your attention? Good! As a helicopter pilot I can't fly at all if I need medication or antibiotics (I can take Aspirin or Advil but that's about it). Flying as a career is very dependent on having proper health and concentration because my life and others could depend on it. Flying as a career is very dependent on having proper health and concentration because my life and others could depend on it. All it takes is failing a doctor's physical and I would be grounded. I am also much less likely to be injured on the job if I am in good physical condition, reducing my chances of a disabling injury.
Before I started P90X, I was in average condition. A little over weight but in pretty good shape generally. I could do my running around, but I was starting to lag. I could feel the effects of turning 40 and not being in good shape creep up on me. I have always been active but I could start to feel a change take place inside... I was feeling tired and had put on some weight due to lack of exercise and not eating properly. Because I am vegetarian, I thought that it automatically gave me a "get out of jail free" card in terms of my diet. That was not the case. I have learned that regardless of what you eat, you need to make sure that it is healthy. I found that a lot of the things I was eating while being vegetarian were still high in fat and highly processed. This was one of the few diet "changes" that I learned when I started P0X.
I also had frequent head-aches. I would often get headaches that would last for 2-3 days and had to take Advil like candy. They weren't migraines, but just headaches that I had from various injuries I got when I was younger and thought I was invincible! The P90X program helped me get to the point where my headaches are few and far between and when I do get them it is because I didn't drink enough water that day.
I use to be about as flexible as a wet bag of cement. With P90X my strength and flexibility have improved dramatically! Apart from being stronger overall, my core is much more balanced. When I use to exercise in the past I would concentrate on arms and legs but ignore my core. As a result, I felt off-balance as if there was something missing. P90X addressed this and now my core and posture are much better and actually balanced!
When I started the fitness test at the beginning of the program, I could not touch my toes when I was sitting down with my legs extended in front of me. I couldn't get closer than 8" from my toes....6" if I pushed myself a little more but I couldn't hold it there because it hurt. Now I can touch beyond the base of my feet!

It has been an interesting journey in terms of my diet while on P90X. Being vegetarian means that I had to educate myself up and beyond some others because a proper diet is extremely important. I have learned to cook in a way where the food is actually good and I look forward to preparing and eating it. Regardless of whether you are a vegetarian or not, I can help you with the daily challenges of a sensible and fun eating program.
My journey has taken me from being almost totally ignorant of a proper exercise regiment and healthy diet to being much more aware of exercise and the techniques required to get results.
This is a program of small "building blocks". Each building block is small and possible to accomplish (I mean if I can do it and stick with it, so can you) and it will give you a sense of accomplishment and this motivates you to continue.
I am proud to be associated with P90X. It takes a lot for me to support a product in writing because today words are so very cheap.
