My transition begins in my head. I know I have been hiding behind the fat, keeping the real me safe from the world. I quit smoking 3 years ago after 30 years of being afraid. I literally woke up one day afraid not to die from it, but more afraid to live with it. I feel the same way about the fat suit I'm wearing right now. I can't live another day pretending it doesn't bother me. I'm afraid of diabetes, high blood pressure, having a stroke or a heart attack because I couldn't control what I ate and how I moved. I was not made in God's image to be this way. When I was younger I was active and stayed in good shape, but I've forgotten who I am. I'm here to declare I remember again who I'm supposed to be and need lots of support to stop being afraid of who I am.
