I am a 41 year old, married mother of two grown children, Senior Office Manager for three substance abuse treatment and education programs and a certified Prime For Life Instructor an education program for first and second time substance abuse offenders, and many years ago a Certified Fitness/Aerobic Instructor. Currently I am working towards my Personal Trainer Hi my name is Melinda. I began my struggle with my weight when I was a teen. I never thought I looked good enough. Then I started working out at home and then had an opportunity to join a gym that was within walking distance of my home. I started out doing aerobics that was popular at that time and then became interested in strength training. Before long I was seeing the results I wanted. The owner of the gym saw the transformation I had made and offered me a job as a result. I loved being an aerobic instructor, but a year later became pregnant with Chris my second child. As a result of complications the Doctor put on complete bed rest. With the pregnancy and the bed rest I sky rocketed to 210 lbs. After I gave birth I started working out again but with children home and work I couldn’t get into a steady schedule.
I ordered the Slim & 6 series several years ago after seeing an infomercial. I started seeing changes almost immediately. By this time I was single, my kids were teenagers, I was struggling with my employment and food became my greatest source of comfort. I was unable to stick with the Slim & 6 program and gave up trying.
In October of 2007 I started walking and then joined a gym, but I had married my second husband a wonderful man that says to me that I look good just the way I am. But I wanted to get healthy and have more energy. I hadn’t changed my eating habits but was getting stronger. I got disappointed and quit going to the gym, then I weighed myself in April and crossed the 200 lb bearer. That round number scared me. I started the Slim & 6 again on 4/17/08. I love the way I feel after this workout. I can see and feel the results after each workout. I am motivated and will succeed.
I am addicted to fast food and love chocolate especially when stressed. I have made a lot of progress in the past 8 months. I prepare my lunch and snacks for work everyday. Not everyone at my job is doing the same thing. I now drink lots of water and make better choices and no fast food and I am trying to stay away from refined sugar. My journey began on April 17, 2008. My one year wedding anniversary had been 3 days earlier. I could not believe the condition I had gotten into. I started using Slim & 6 that had set in the video cabinet for years. Then I found the message boards and looked around for a while, and decided that if I really wanted to change my eating and fitness I was going to have to start posting and be accountable. The first few weeks I struggled with my eating, with the help of my coach and others they guided me to help me learn better food choices. Since I have started eating clean, I feel better, I look better. After 7 weeks I lost 11 lbs. and 11 inches. I have just started the Slim Series on 6/12/08 and I am so excited. I completed Slim Series with 5 lbs and 12 inches lost. I am currently doing a 4 week round of Burn It Up then on to P90X. I am currently doing Chalean Extreme and I am loving the changes that is taking place with my body!! I know I have rediscovered a way of life. I had lost to eating and a sedentary lifestyle.
