Well I'm not getting any younger so I decided this was the year I was going to stick with my workout. My goal is to run the Hospital Hill half-marathon on June 6th of this year. I just want to finish it. It seems like I set my goals then I just fizzle out. I don't want that to happen this year. I am attempting to make an entire lifestyle change. Eating better, working out regularly. I just looked in the mirror one day and realized that it isn't going to get any easier, so I need to start now!! I work in an ER so we see tons of unfit, unhealthy people and I don't want to be one of those statistics!!! Besides I have 2 beautiful girls who I want to be a good example for. When I noticed how bad their eating habits were getting I realized we needed to make a family change. By no means are they overweight, but their poor food choices were a reflection of mine and I don't want that for them. My oldest is 10 and heading into puberty. That is hard enough as it is! The last thing I want her to worry about is dieting, etc... I want her to enjoy her youth and have her health as a no-brainer!! She already has girls in her class that are dieting and think they are fat. So I figured the only way to reinforce these healthy lifestyle choices was to live them myself!! I do have to say I get a wonderful mental peace after I workout. It has definitely made me a calmer, more laid back person! My family definitely likes the changes!!!
I was introduced to the P90X challenge by a coworker. It definitely got me excited!! And what better way to prepare for a half-marathon than to build my core. Besides, that swimsuit will look fantastic this summer!!! I am using the lean routine and still training 3 days a week on top of that for my run. I'm trying not to push my self over my limit, but I have found I am really starting to enjoy working out and don't feel as good when I can't! Guess all of those stories are true!! I know that I will keep pushing play!!
