I was healthy, strong and confident. My eating and exercise habits changed, and most importantly, I was a great role model for my pre-teen daughter. How did I get to be morbidly obese? I was never slim, but as an athlete thru age 20, my weight was at least manageable. I gained most of my weight in my late twenties and thirties after I married and had two kids. My (then) husband has been a 32/32 his entire (adult) life, and could eat whatever he wanted without gaining weight. Because my husband would go thru withdrawal without it, there was an abundant variety of junk in the house at all times: candy, cookies, cakes, chips, ice cream, and especially chocolate. I was an emotional eater, living in the House of Constant temptation. After the birth of my son, I yo-yo dieted my way to a size twenty-two. I could not even tie my own shoes (from any position) without feeling like I was going to throw up (because my circulation was cut off). I went from 150 (size 11/12) to my high weight of 232 (mid-March 2003). I had tried every diet there is, and even bought some very expensive fitness equipment that turned out to be little more than dust-collecting clothes racks. I was losing hope. Although I had not really had any health problems from the obesity (my cholesterol, BP and sugar tolerance, have always been good), I felt horrible. I had no energy at all. My husband had a lot of joint, back and neck pain from a lifetime of hard labor in the construction industry. We were constantly working on home projects, and I tried to help but I moved like a snail because I would tire so easily. My husband would get so frustrated because he really needed the help, and because I was 14 years younger, didn't have the injuries he had, but he could still run circles around me. I try to explain to him, that being 100 pounds overweight, everything I did was like doing it with two 50 lb grain bags strapped to my body. What was my motivation to finally lose weight and get into shape? First and foremost, my daughter, who was in Middle School and has always carried a few extra pounds. She was not fat, but her weight obviously bothered her. She grew up watching me try pills and patches and every gimmick there was. I wanted to show her the importance of good eating and exercise habits (something I was never taught). I wanted to be a better role model for her, and show that we not helpless. Second, my job was in jeopardy. My company was selling off all its assets, and by September or October I would be out on the streets interviewing. I wanted to lose weight, so I could invest in a decent wardrobe and interview confidently. And third, I just plain wanted to feel healthy again. I would lie in bed sometimes, out of breath from just climbing one flight of stairs. My heart would be pounding, and I wondered if I will live to see my daughter become a mother. My kids are so close to me, I have an obligation to them to stick around as long as I can. I made up my mind that I wanted to do this, and with the help of BB I would succeed!! I set a goal to go to Hawaii!! I wanted to show that this program is not just for moderately in shape people that just want to tone, but even for those who have a lot of fat to lose. (The morbidly obese, like me). Well, I lost most of the 92 pounds in ten months, and I totally surpassed my goals. I went from a size 22 to a size 4. I did make it to Hawaii, and it was a wonderful experience for my entire family. In the years since, I was been able to maintain close to my Hawaii weight almost effortlessly. The difference is that my habits changed. I did not diet! With the help of Beachbody and this community, I changed my lifestyle. I went back to school and completed my MBA. I feel healthy and alive, and I owe it all to this company and community. If I can do it, you can too!!! It is so worth the effort! Decide to do it...find your motivation, commit and succeed. Just be patient and consistent, and let your new habits take root. You will be so glad that you did! UPDATE 02/22/09: In the past 18 months, my entire life changed. I got a new job with a long commute. I divorced and re-married on July 7th, 2007. My new husband did not have any biological children of his own, so we immediately started working on having a baby. I got pregnant on our honeymoon, but lost the baby at 11 weeks. We had a second miscarriage last year. My new husband and I eat out way too often, and I have gained 20 pounds and lost that beachbody I had in Hawaii in 2004. I came back to what I know works. I miss being part of this community, so I joined back up as a coach. I will be getting back in shape, right along with you. I would be honored to help you, and be your coach on your journey to a healthy lifestyle. Transformation Story

Note: before pix 5/12/03 218 lbs (already lost 14 lbs); after pix 140 lbs one 10/04 Taken in Hawaii. In May 2003, I stumbled across the Beachbody infomercial while flipping channels and went to their website to check it out. While it had the classic infomercial traits, I liked it because it was not a magic pill, but changing habits. I downloaded the eating guidelines and lost 14 pounds before the DVD even came. When I started on05/12/03, I was 232 pounds, a size 22, and could not tie my shoes without feeling like I was going to throw up. I needed to do this for my health and to be a role model for my daughter (who was 11 then). Below are my actual updates that I posted on my page as I went though my transformation: UPDATE 6/11/03: Well--I made it to day 30!! Broke the 10 day plateau (day 16-25) and lost 3 pounds last 5 days. Lost 13 pounds, and 15 ", and body fat dropped 8%. I still have a long way to go, but I am feeling like I am heading in the right direction! The support team (boards, email, chats) is the absolute key to the success of this program. UPDATE 6/26 (Day 45): Since day 30, I lost 4 pounds, 1" off my waist, 1" off my hips, and 3% body fat. I started my own pix thread, and it is great! It is very motivating to put yourself out there (versus staying anonymous). The BB family is so supportive!!! To be honest, I laxed this past week, but joined a coach's thread (gotresults), and got the kick in the butt I needed. I want to finish the 2nd half strong! UPDATE 7/10 (Day 60): Wooo hooo!! Day 60!! I am so happy with my results so far! My daughter is so proud of me, and my son now calls me "SuperMom". Lost 22 pounds in the 60 days and mega inches...23-32" depending on what you include. I still have a long way to go...but I am DEFINITELY on my way!!! Also ordered "Tony & the Kids" for my daughter...she is anxiously awaiting her DVD (we all know how that feels). UPDATE 8/10/03 (Day 90): Ding, Ding, Ding...that's the end of Round 1. I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS PROGRAM AND THE RESULTS THAT I HAVE HAD! P90 and BB gave me the tools to create the lifestyle that I ALWAYS wanted for myself, but never had the discipline or self-motivation to create on my own. Thanks BB!! I tell everyone I know about his program. I lost 8 more lbs since day 60, for a total of 30 & 31-44.75" (depending on what all you include). I lost 7.5" off my waist alone. 7.5"!!!!! I went from a size 20 to a perfect size 13/14. My daughter is doing her Tony & Kids video (almost) daily, despite the fact that she is at the high end of the age recommendation. She is setting realistic goals for herself, and I am very proud of her. I am going to NYC (with my kids) for the weekend for the East Coast SOC Reunion. Can't wait!! UPDATE 9/18/03: (Day 120) I actually made it to 2 BB reunions. The one in NYC that was almost a wash out because of the blackout, and one Sept 6th at the Baltimore Harbor. It is so incredible to meet people for the first time, and feel like you have known them forever. I had a GREAT time at both events, and have pix posted in my thread. I took a 9-10 day break between rounds, as the NYC weekend was in the middle of it. I lost 2 pounds during my "recovery period". I hit a plateau for the majority of the first 30 days of R2, but lost 4 pounds and 1.75" off my hips. I am now a solid 11/12. The plateau had little affect on me mentally, as the healthy lifestyle is now my new habit, and eating right is my preference. Here's to the next 30! UPDATE: 10/17/03 (Day 150) I aborted the 2nd round of P90 and started Slim in 6 two weeks ago. I had been doing 3/4 sculpt and sweat since day 30, and felt my body needed a change. I did one week of Start it Up and just finished first week of Ramp It Up. It is definitely a different workout than P90. Although I only lost a couple of pounds, I lost one inch in my waist already. UPDATE 11/18/03 (Day 180): I lost 10 lbs since day 150. I have now lost 62 total and 48 since I started BB. Most of the 14 I lost pre-P90 was following Michi's ladder and walking while I waited for my DVD's to arrive. I have lost 10" off my waist since I started BB!! Can you believe that?? I am currently Burning It Up with Debbie in Slim in 6. Loving it!! Che' unfortunately quit P90, but she is making better choices, and I know some day it will be important enough for her to stick it. Update 12/15/03 (Day 210) Took progress pix and posted. This community is so supportive! The feedback from the BBST makes you just want to keep working harder! The back shots shock even myself. I am very pleased with my 7 month transformation, and feel like I am just getting started. I lost 65 pounds to date (167), and 11..that's right... 11" off my waist. Thanks Tony and Debbie. I went from a size 20 to a very solid 9/10. I am ready to really kick it up Jan 1 - March 31, and hope to run my very first 10K in June. UPDATE 4/11/04 (Day 330ish) During the 90 day period from Jan 3rd to April 1, I lost 17 lbs. (for a total of 82). I am now a size 7/8, for the first time in my entire life. It is very surreal. When I go shopping and pull a size 7/8 petite pants off the rack, I expect to go to the dressing room and find they are too tight. They are actually a little loose. I reached a size 7/8 about mid-way through this period, and it still has not sunk in. Slim Series this round...big winners were upper back and triceps (and my butt). Rick and Che' to start P90 together. Rick can not keep up with me anymore! Oh, how the tables have turned! 6/30/04 I was on a local ABC Makeover Show called "Baltimore's Dramatic Makeovers". It fell into my lap and finished the job by taking care of the extra skin. I am thrilled with my results, and it was a great experience. I went to Hawaii in November 2004 with Beachbody. I have been blessed and my life is forever changed. | ||||||||
