I am a 32-year-old wife, mother, active church leader, sorority founder, and 1st grade teacher. Back in March 2008, I decided that I needed a health change. My husband and I began thinking about adding to our family, but I had been putting it off "to lose weight". I've spent the great majority of my life overweight or as I was told "the thick one" out of my friends. I've dealt with low self-esteem, poor confidence, and even poorer body image. I always walked looking down, to the point that people would ask "Did you drop something?" It was a subconcious action, but an indication of how I felt about myself nonetheless. It was so bad in fact, I can remember taking Slim Fast shakes with me for lunch when I was in 6th and 7th grade! I didn't like myself, I didn't like how I looked, but each time I tried to change, I would "hit it and quit it." Not because I didn't want the change, but because I wanted the change to be immediate. And, when it wasn't, I would give up.

So, in March 2008 I began by (going back to my) workout with Shaun T and Hip Hop Abs along with walking. I began Power 90 May 2, 2008 as a birthday present to myself. I started with the 6-day Fat Burning Express. After that 1st 6 days I was hooked!

I finished my first round of Power 90 at the end of July 2008 and had planned on beginning P90X August 11th. However, on August 4th, I was in a car accident. My SUV rolled 3 times and landed upside on the freeway with my 3-year-old son and I in it. I sustained a minor injury and couldn't work out during the month of August. When I began again in September, I needed something upbeat and fun so I wouldn't make excuses and quit. That's when I found TurboJam! With TurboJam I removed another 15 lbs. and another 1-1/2" from my waist. My arms became more toned and my thighs more slim. I LOVE IT!

I instituted the "10-Day Turkey Slim Down" the 10 days prior to Thanksgiving 2008 and removed another 5 lbs. and 1-1/2" inches. I planned, again, to start P90X just after Thanksgiving of 2008. However, fate apparently stepped in again; the day before Thanksgiving I found out I was pregnant with our second child. AAAH!!

So, after a hiatus and with another beautiful son, I begin my weight removal journey... again! I am reporting all new stats because I plan to work P90X until I reach my goal of 140 lbs or a size 7 (whichever comes first)!

I want to get healthier, get in better shape, and make proper diet and excercise a lifestyle. I also want to motivate others to do the same. (Not only does that help them, but it helps me too because I'm reminded of my goals, where I've come from, and where I'm going!) I think that's the best part - helping someone who began as I did and holding their hand, watching from the cheering section, or maybe even sometimes helping to carry them to their fitness goals. That's why I became a coach in the first place! I have a FABULOUS job!
