If you are making a return visit here, you will probably ask yourself “what happened to this guy?” Well, a number of life changing events have really…well…changed my life. First my father died in November. He was an avid cyclist and the most gentle person I’ve ever met. I had just started a round of P90X when he got really sick and moved to Phoenix. I stuck to the strength workouts, but couldn’t do the cardio. In January of 2008 I decided to take on the X full time, and I’ve increased my strength, flexibility and endurance.

At around that time we had some friends in town for the Rock and Roll Marathon. One of them qualified for the Boston Marathon (good job Josh). That was inspiring to say the least. My beautiful and talented wife Monica decided to train for the San Diego Marathon, and I decided to start running for the first time in my life.

In March of 2008 Monica was awarded a Top Coach honor and off we went to Hawaii. We got to work out with Tony Horton and meet the Beachbody Exec’s. Carl and John are really good people, who really understand how Beachbody can change lives, both physically and financially. I’m so very lucky to have met them and to have gotten an intimate look at this incredible company.

Another friend of ours is into multisport, more specifically triathlon. She convinced me to do a sprint Tri in March, and I was hooked. I found that P90X laid a base of strength that I draw on in every workout. Do you want to know what P90X and the other Beachbody workouts can do for you yet? Since then I've done two olympic distance races and five sprint distance races.

In January of 2007 I was 192 pounds, fat, lazy, sore, sick all the time, and generally miserable. With the help of my wife, Beachbody peers, P90 and P90X I managed to lose 20 pounds in about three months and today I’m thin, energetic, still sore, but now from working out, rarely sick, and very happy. I look forward to working out every day and pushing harder, longer and faster. My least favorite day is the day off. I know I need it, but it is hard to sit still.

I grew up in San Diego near the US Navy SEAL’s training facility. Talk about a workout! SEAL training is insane. The SEALs have a saying – the only easy day was yesterday. That’s my motto now as I move forward with my training. I’m no SEAL, and I don’t pretend to be one; I’m just doing what I can to be the best I can. Drawing on the inspiration gained from the SEAL’s Monica started the B.U.D.’s thread. It is a really great place to bounce ideas off people and to learn more about fitness, particularly endurance fitness. Come join us and take your fitness to the next level.

Way back in 2003 Monica started another thread called, “Fit Clubber’s Unite”, where you can go for inspiration, advice and support.

My goal next year is the SOMA Half-Ironman (1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike/13.1 mile run) Triathlon in Phoenix this September. To increase base fitness, I’m starting a round of ChaLEAN Extreme on January 5, 2009. This should take my triathlon training to the next level. Stronger, leaner, faster.

So, shoot me an email or stop on by either the B.U.D.’s thread or the Fit Clubber’s Unite thread. I’d love to hear your story.

Dave
