Transformation Story

Growing up, I was very involved in swimming and dance (tap and jazz), and I took several years of tennis lessons. In 8th grade, I quit dance, and was on the swim team. When I started high school, More...
Growing up, I was very involved in swimming and dance (tap and jazz), and I took several years of tennis lessons. In 8th grade, I quit dance, and was on the swim team. When I started high school, however, my physical activity level dropped to include only gym class, and Marching Band (I played flute from 4th grade through college).

When I turned 18 in Jan 1995, I weighed 149 pounds.

In college, I gained the "freshman 15", and my physical activity included a mere handful of games of intramural soccer and basketball.

In 2001, I got married, and over the course of the next 4 years, I gained weight, and exercised rarely. During that time, I had also started my Princess House business, and in 2004, I won a free trip to Maui. We went in Jan 2005, and when we got home, and I saw the photos of me, I was horrified. I promptly went out and bought a new scale, and was shocked at the number I saw – 185.3!!!! I had gained more than 36 pounds in 10 years. My body fat was 40%!!

I promptly began working out and calorie counting. I got a personal trainer and saw him twice a week. From Feb 05 through July 05, I lost a mere 5 pounds. Then I left my husband…and lost 10 pounds during the month of August. I lost another 5 pounds before going on my second free Princess House trip (a cruise to the Mexican Riviera) in Oct 05...which brought me down to 164.9.

Of course, a cruise is never good for losing weight…and due to the cost of a divorce lawyer, I had to stop seeing my personal trainer. Between that, and the holidays, I was off and on with my workouts and my diet was off track…my weight had crept back up to 175.2 by Feb 06.

Once my divorce was final in May 06, and my lawyer was paid, I was able to afford my trainer again – this time, I supplemented my PT sessions with Turbo Jam and joined WOWY. Between May 06 and June 08, I have completed hundreds of workouts. I have used many Beachbody workouts (Slim Series, Slim in 6, Slim Series Express, Turbo Jam/Turbo Kick, Hip Hop Abs, Rockin Body, P90, Power Half Hour, P90M, P90X, P90X+, CLX), along with non-Beachbody workouts including Supreme Pilates, The Firm, Taebo, my personal training sessions at the gym, and Cardio Coach on the cardio equipment at my gym. No matter what workout I did, I made sure to log it in WOWY. While I didn’t lose a lot of weight in that time frame (diet is SO important, and
unfortunately, mine wasn’t very good), I did lose body fat.

Between June and Sept 2008, I completed a 12 week power lifting rotation at the gym where I was lifting VERY heavy three times a week. I also began riding my bike everywhere – to work, to the gym, to church. I rode almost every day. If it was raining and I couldn’t ride, I did Beachbody workouts. And as always, I made sure to log every workout into WOWY – I LOVE having that little “X” on
my WOWY calendar! I started the 12 weeks at 169 pounds, 35% body fat, and wearing size 14 pants. I ended the 12 weeks at 154 pounds, 30% body fat, and in October I bought my first size 10 pair of pants in I don’t know how long!! I lost 15 pounds, 5% body fat, and TWO pant sizes in 12 weeks. And I biked over 1100 miles!

With morning temps in the upper 40’s, biking to work was over for the season. I did a mish-mosh of workouts from Oct-Dec 08.

I just completed my first round of ChaLEAN Extreme on April 3rd. I didn't have super great results this time around because my diet wasn't good (and as I said, diet is SO important), and I also needed more cardio. So I just started CLX Round 2 on April 6th. I'm adding in extra cardio workouts (mostly TJ) until it is warm enough for me to resume biking.

I have lost 31 pounds and 10% body fat in three and a half years. I am now, at 32 years old, just 5 pounds above my weight at age 18, and I plan to be well below that before my sister's wedding in July. And I have Beachbody workouts and especially WOWY for consistency to thank for my achievement!
