My Story…. Where to begin. It goes kind of like this….
I have battled depression and weight gain most of my adult life. It was ugly… I got winded walking up the stairs, heck I got winded standing at the sink just doing the dishes. This all changed for me in December 2006. My three year old daughter got SERIOUSLY ill overnight and we had to rush her to the emergency room. My little girl was hooked up to IVs and the Doctors had no idea what was wrong. They could not get her fever to break so they admitted her to the hospital where she had to stay overnight. Needless to say, my wife and I were terrified. I actually just started sobbing. Imagine a 323 pound man sobbing uncontrollably and that was me. Why am I telling you all of this? It was at that exact moment that my life, my attitude, and my whole outlook changed. The wheels began to turn and my journey to a new me began! It was like being punched in the stomach. It finally hit me. I was 38 and I wasn’t getting any younger but, my waist size was certainly getting bigger. The time had come for me to start living my life like I had a purpose not just aimlessly sleep walking through it. I DID have a purpose… MY FAMILY! I started my Power 90 journey in January 2007. Let’s just say I became quite consumed with it quickly. My first thirty days I lost 28 pounds! The wheels turned slowly for me at first. I got involved in the message boards and then things started to really cook for me. I found a lot of motivation and a great support system on the message boards.. The support system on Beachbody was amazing to say the least. It gave me the one thing I needed the most. That extra push of accountability that I felt towards all the people that I counted as my success buddies. I was hooked! An angel right here on the Beachbody message boards reached out and touched me in such a profound way that my response was to become a Million Dollar Body coach. My dreams of helping motivate others by becoming a coach didn’t last long. I had been laid off from my job in October 2006 with the promise of returning to work in February 2007. I was informed when the time came that there was no work and I had better just not plan on coming back. I was crushed. I had to leave my coaching dreams on the back burner for financial reasons. I made the decision that the next best thing for me to do at that point was to still reach out and try to touch as many people as possible, the fence sitters that needed a little push. As it turns out I NEVER really stopped being a coach. I am now back thanks in large part to my beautiful wife. She believed it was where I belonged and told me we would figure out a way to do it! My Power 90 journey came to an end in April 2007. The results- I dropped an astounding 50 pounds in 90 days, not to mention 20 overall inches and 20% body fat. I then took an advised recovery week and threw myself into my next challenge… Power 90X! WOW… I love this program! The intensity is what really lights my fire and the variety of the workouts keeps me motivated. They are well thought out and really well delivered. Tony is a master motivator! I am now finishing week 6 and I have lost an additional 11 pounds. I am by no means finished, in fact I have just begun! Becoming a coach was important to me. I find personal motivation in helping others reach their fitness goals. I also wanted everyone to watch me, watch my progress and be able to say, “Hey, if Greg can do this, so can I!” Thank you Beachbody for giving me the tools to become a better overall person. Thank you Tony Horton for making it fun and making me laugh. Come one, come all… I will do everything I can to help you stay motivated and have fun! Please join me on my journey!
