I'm currently a stay at home mom with 3 girls. They keep me hoppin'! I have a wonderful husband of 15 years who works really hard so that I can be home with my kids. I left work as a children's counselor 2 years ago, but I feel like I work harder now than ever! In addition to our 3 girls, I also have a house of pets- one of which is a hedgehog. I started working out after I developed a thyroid condition 5 years ago. I was always active, but never athletic. The whole gym thing wasn't for me. I had two left feet, and with 3 kids, who had time to go to a gym. I'm not sure what clicked to finally get me moving. For years, I had complained that I wasn't satisfied with how I looked, but complaining was all the further it got. I think it was when I finally realized that my body was working against me (with the thyroid disease) and that if I didn't start to do something- anything- I soon would be too unhealthy to do what I wanted to do with my family.
Believe it or not, my first "work out" was jogging in place during the commericals while I watched at TV at night. After that proved somewhat successful, I started doing some DVD's and eventually stumbled across beachbody. Once I started SS6, I was hooked. From there I went to P90, then p90X then Turbo Jam and then HHA. Next week, I'm starting Rockin Body.
I celebrated my 3 year anniversary of getting healthy (working out) this past January. Who would have thought. I still take it day by day though. I haven't had the great weight losses that many have. I joke that I work out so that I can eat what any normal person does. The thyroid makes it hard to lose weight. But working out has made me so much more healthy! I can do things now that I never would have dreamed possible. And I am also a good role model for my kids.
My biggest struggle is my diet. I love sugar. Bad, I know, but the truth. I am pretty disciplined with working out. If I miss a work out, my day is messed up. But for some reason, I can't seem to eat as healthy as I wish. Some days are better than others. I guess I continue to be a work in progress. I do get frustrated sometimes when I work really hard, eat fairly clean, and still gain a few pounds because of the thyroid thing. But the motivation usually comes back quickly as I thank God for all he has given me. For all the other physical ailments that others endure, I guess I'm pretty lucky. God has blessed me beyond belief, and I intend to keep my body in the best condition that I can.
