I haven't really had a weight issue since I was a teenager. At 17 I was probably 10-15 pounds overweight and wearing size 10's (and on my way to the next size up if I recall correctly). I joined the army right after high school and naturally lost almost all my fat and trimmed down very nicely. I joined the army right after high school and naturally lost almost all my fat and trimmed down very nicely. (thanks to all the running, situps and pushups we had to do) When I returned home I was able to maintain my size 8 (I prefer looser clothing). I got sick with mono for nearly 8 months, in which time I basically cut my size in half. I was down to a size 4 and getting close to a size 2 before I finally recovered and could eat more than half a salad a day. I'm 5'9", so trust me when I say that a women my height looks very scary when she's wearing sizes 2-4. Amazingly it took me a good 2 years to put all the weight I'd lost back on and to be a comfortable size 6-8.
My company relocated to Ohio last summer and I decided to move along with it, and that is when I started to gain weight. Being from California, I wasn't used to the extremely cold temperatures and snow during the winter season, and being a huge wimp when it comes to being cold, I didn't go outside much except to let the dogs out and go to my car. I probably gained 10 pounds during the winter and because I prefer looser clothing I bought a couple of jeans in size 10.
I work the second shift until midnight and one night/morning I came home and flipped on the TV while I was getting ready to go to bed. The hip hop abs informercial came on and I watched it and thought, hey this is a pretty cool idea for exercise. I can't dance to save my life, but I do know that dancing is great exercise and that you can really work up a sweat. I wasn't too crazy about the price of the DVD's--it seemed to be a little extravagant for exercise videos. But I figured if these DVD's can help me to lose inches in my waistline and all over and I don't get bored with it and it teaches me how to dance.....it was worth the try. Plus I liked the fact that I could return it and get my money back if it didn't work for me.
I really like these DVD's! They're not too long, although the Total Body Burn is about 40 minutes, and although they are challenging on the muscles, they're not impossible for the average person to do. I'm hoping that between these DVD's, running during my breaktime and walking the dogs that I'll get in pretty good shape fairly shortly.

Well, I'm not transformed yet, but I can already feel a difference in how my clothes fit me after a week of combining HHA with some jogging. My pants are looser, and the area near my ribcage is a lot firmer than it was before. Of course I still lots of work to do on my stomach area, but I knew going in that it would take a while to tone that down!
