Hi from a new member !
I retired from public health nursing 2 years ago and totally love it ! I started regular physical activity in my 20s: used to run/jog 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week..never really 'enjoyed' running but did it 'cause I knew it was good for my cardio health & it helped me manage weight as I love to eat !
About 5 years ago, I changed to walking and since I retired, I walk 3-4 miles

About 5 years ago, I changed to walking and since I retired, I walk 3-4 miles a day, at least 6 days a week. I would NEVER have run that often. That level of walking plus changing my diet (whole grains, watch the carbs) helped me lose 20 pounds (from 160 to 140....I am 5'6" & 160 was at the top of the recommended wgt range). I've kept it off (an occasional 2-3 lb gain over vacations..but then back to 139-140).
I do a lot of gardening, sometimes I bike & lift weights. My husband is also active so we are good support for each other. Logging my activity every day will add another level of motivation.
Keep moving, everybody !
