In college I played soccer freshman year and was in pretty good shape, although my eating was atrocious, most days I would eat a sugary cereal 3 times per day and a few hamburgers and sodas that usually was about normal unless there was taco special in the student dining room. Now with all the running etc. that I was doing during soccer my physique stayed pretty slim so I was not all that concerned about what I ate as long as I was getting the calories. The next year during soccer pre-season I tore my quad and that pretty much signaled the beginning of my downfall. My quad never healed enough that year that I could run without pain, so that meant no soccer practice or games. Not only that, but my eating did not change. So with no structured exercise I began to slowly grow my waist line. Now I did not stop working out all together, but I pretty much had no cardio in my workouts at all, most of it was just lifting and lifting heavy. I married my wife while we were still in college and being poor newly married college students we did not eat very healthy and yet my waist line grew again, but not to the extent that it would grow to since we were living in a large city and we were doing a lot of walking. After college we moved to Florida where I had a job working with computers, I currently manage a help desk for my company. This is a job where you sit at a desk all day. So my waist line grew some more. I ballooned up to my all time high of 297 lbs it was then that I told myself that I would not hit the dreaded 300 lbs. The company that I work for was sponsoring Weight Watchers, I signed up and actually lost about 50 lbs over 6 months, although the weight was mostly muscle weight since I severely restricted my caloric intake and was pretty much not exercising at all. After the WW I went back to my former eating habits and expanded yet again to about 290 lbs. It was at this time that I came across beachbody.com and my life really began to change...You will have to read my transformation story for the rest… I am now awaiting my 1st child and am enjoying life much more now that I have energy. But read my transformation story below for more about me and how my life has changed thanks to Beach Body and Million Dollar Body. My Progress My Fitness Goal: Transformation Story

Do you know how great it feels to not huff and puff when I need to walk across the room or bend down to get something? Do you know how great it feels to walk outside and not feel like I am suffocating from the heat? Do you know how great it feels to play 2 hours of basketball and not get winded? Do you know how great it feels to not be tired all day? Do you know how great it feels to have the energy to make it through a whole day at work? Do you know how great it feels to be alert and focused throughout the day? Do you know how great it feels to accomplish something that is good for me? Do you know how great it feels to fit into my clothes (and have some of them fall off)? Do you know how great it feels to not have to rely on sugar and caffeine to get me through the day? Do you know how great if feels to have a more structured and balanced life? Do you know how great it feels to have other believe in you? Do you know how great it feels when others notice your hard work to loose weight? Do you know how great it feels to be able to hold your wife close without your belly getting in the way? Do you know how great it feels to feel great? Well I could go on forever, but suffice it to say that living feels great!! The toughest part of this is getting your mind right, once you win the mental battle with yourself (This is where the DECIDE and COMMIT portions come in) then you will SUCCEED!! MDB & BB really hit the nail on the head when they came up with the slogan Decide.Commit.Succeed. because that is really what I have done. So if I can encourage you in anything it is to Decide.Commit.Succeed. That is what it is all about, if you miss a workout, the next day just get up and do your workout. I know it sounds simple...notice I did not say beat yourself up about missing your workout, or since you missed your workout then you can have a pizza...You all know that eating right is foundation for your workout program, so don't beat yourself up and don't cheat on your food choices, just continue what you are doing in eating right and for goodness sake push play the very next day!!! Invite a WOWY partner so that you are accountable, have your wife/husband/partner wake you up if you are working out in the morning, put your alarm clock across the room so that you have to walk over to it to turn it off then you will be up and ready to workout!! Whatever it is that you have to do to get back on track...DO IT!! Your health is worth the effort! I am currently using Power 90 and following Tony throughout my workout. I started Power 90 on June 18, 2007. My goal is to go from 37% body fat to 10% body fat. I know that this can be done; I have seen the proof here on MDB... I am currently using the P90X Peak Health Formula multi vitamins and have definitely noticed a difference in my energy levels, stamina and muscle recovery time. Eating breakfast, drinking lots of water and no soda has also contributed to keep my energy levels and no eating 3 hours before bed!! My older sister saw me for the first time in about 2-3 weeks last night and she could really tell the difference in how I look, my mom keeps telling me that she does not know who I am anymore, and my younger sister is coming to see my family this weekend (my wife's baby shower) and she has not seen me since I started this wonderful journey of finding myself again...I can't wait for her reaction!!! One of my co-workers that I have know for about 7 years was on vacation for 2 weeks and when he got back on Monday and he saw me he said “Holy cr*& John…you are wasting away to nothing…” Those are the kind of reactions that I like to receive, and those are some of the things that keep me motivated to keep pushing play every day. I know that I have been doing well, but this is a tough battle every day to workout and consistently make the right food choices. I know the goal that I want to get to, and know that it is not going to happen overnight, but I have “gotten my mind right”, as Tony likes to say and I have DECIDED that I am going to be fit, I have COMMITTED to myself, my wife, my family, my baby that is going to be born in October, my friends, and all of you online that I am going to make good choices in the food I eat and exercise 6 days a week, and I have SUCCEEDED in many of my fitness/healthy living goals already. Just recently I hit another minor goal…I was able to grab my toes while doing the calf/hamstring stretch; I have never been able to do that…even when I was playing soccer in college. I still have another month or two before I can fit into my size 38 jeans, but I am confident that I can do it. Here are a few of my goals that I have reached: - Remove soda from my diet – I have had no soda since I started Power 90 - Eat 5 small meals per day – I consistently eat 5 small meals, except for maybe once or twice a month where it just does not work out. - Have my clothes fall off of me – The clothes I wear are really way too big for me, but the clothes that I am waiting to fit into are just a little too snug, and my pants literally fall off of me if I do not wear a belt. - Drink 8 8oz glasses of water per day – I have a 32oz Nalgene bottle that I fill up twice each day and I drink it all. - Sleep 8 hours every night – I am mostly able to do this…I would say 4 out of every 7 days I am able to get 8 hours of sleep. - Limit Alcohol intake - I probably only have 2 glasses of wine per week when before I was having a wine or a few beers every night. Some of my longer term goals that I have are: - Run & Complete the Chicago Marathon - Fit into a size 34/32 jean - Have a 6 pack (abs not beer) ;-) I have not attained my ultimate goals yet, but I do feel a whole lot better than when before I started and now I actually look forward to working out.
