Oxford, MA I teach karate, cardio kickboxing, and MMA. I run 2 or 3 times a week, and lift weights. During the summer I add some swimming and mountain biking. I mix in workouts from P90X, Insanity and One-on-One with Tony. I have not missed a day of working out since March 2008. Most days I work out twice. I love the Beachbody workouts because you can do them anywhere, and at any time of day. Plus, there I teach karate, cardio kickboxing, and MMA. I run 2 or 3 times a week, and lift weights. Growing up, I was always slim. I danced for many years, played basketball, and did some running. I could eat whatever I wanted, and weight was never an issue. When I was about 30, I started running very seriously, and competing in many local races. I was so thin that when my teenage daughter looks a pictures from that time, she says I looked "gross". A couple of years later, I got involved in martial arts with my kids, and started to add some muscle. At my black belt test in 1999, I broke my collar-bone, and started a downward spiral. By the time I was cleared to work out again, I had lost a lot of conditioning, and started to gain weight. Over the next few years, I gained a lost a lot of weight, mostly by starvation diets. In the spring of 2008, I noticed that I had worked out for a month without a day off, and was starting to loss weight without changing my diet. So I made a commitment to work out every day for a year. (This is easier than it sounds because I teach cardio and always work out with my classes.)Two of my martial arts students had done P90X with amazing results, so I added some of those workouts to my schedule. At the end of the year, I had great conditioning, but had platued in my weight loss. So I gave in to what my workout friends had been telling me, and started to eat clean. Since April 2009, I have lost 14 pounds and am on my way to lossing 10 more. When Insanity came out this summer,I was so excited that I ran down the walkto meet the UPS man. I ripped open the package and did my fit test and my first workout that same night. So much fun! This is a way of life I can live with forever.
