I am an Engineer whose passion is Continuous Improvement. I have a rapport for improving processes in any area I become involved with. I am a firm believer that things are never the same, they are either better or worse. This is the reason for which I decided to apply my professional passion to my own personal life.
For the most part of my life I had been a very active individual. I played all sorts of sports and performed various hobbies. During High School I was part of the School's Basket ball team.
In College I played in the School's Football team; after a couple of seasons and 3 knee surgeries I had to put a stop to it. At the same time I practiced "Sabat" (French kickboxing) and lifted weights. After the last surgery I became a bit disappointed with the situation, young and with a lot of energy. Luckily enough, one of my buddies introduced me to Rock Climbing and I engaged in that incredible sport for many years!
Not too many years ago I was an avid climber and I was in the best shape of my life!. I had a ripped torso and could do pull ups with 1 finger of each hand on the bar and could even pick myself up with one hand!
A combination of things forced me to step away from my very active life: job change, relocation, new professional challenges, traveling, and the most important and the worse of all EXCUSES for not exercising!
It is incredible what EXCUSES and PROCRASTINATION can do to our bodies, health and peace of mind. I can just mention that until not long ago my Cholesterol has been unacceptable, I became 23 lbs over weight and my energy levels were at all time lows!
After a couple pants sizes of pants up I decided that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I found P90X through an infomercial, researched the product and started doing it. Today (March 2009) I have completed my 1st month of P90X and feel much better than a month ago. I have lost 9 lbs, muscles are starting to shape again and I have energy all day! Exercise is not all, this is a complete lifestyle change! I dumped all the garbage in my fridge and starting following the guidelines of the nutritional guide, I eat 5 to 6 times a day and make sure I have my recovery drink after each workout.
If you think TIME is not on your side, I would like to encourage you no to use that as a limitation. I am sure that somewhere in your day you have 1 hr available to make a change to a BETTER YOU.
See a sample of one of my work weeks, I still manage to do at least 5 of the 6 weekly workouts:
Monday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM + 2 hr commute
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM + 2 hr commute
Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM + 2 hr commute
Thursday: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM + 2 hr commute
Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM + 2 hr commute
Not too bad, huh? Every once in a while I would work 2 day shifts and 2 night shifts in a week or full night shifts.
I am also happily married and still manage to spend valuable time with my beloved wife!
