My weight was always pretty average until after I gave birth to my daughter. Really that was my lowest weight for many years to come. I continue to gain weight at a rate of 20 pounds a year. I was severely depressed, started with Post-partum and continued to worsen with a bad marriage. I didn't workout and at night I didn't eat all day except for coffee. Then at night, I would binge on whatever I could find, ice cream, leftovers, candy, trying to numb my pain. After my husband left I started working out again at a local gym, but I only went twice a week and I did not have control of my eating. I was in a good relationship at the time, but it ended soon enough. Then I moved to Delaware. Soon after moving, I decided I needed to be on my own for awhile and work on me! I started educating myself on food, nutrition, and reading labels. I wrote down every thing I ate added it up. I was shocked what I had been eating in a day! I started tracking what I ate and keeping my calories at the right amount for my current weight and level of activity (beachbody can calculate this for you). I also started working out 4 days a week. In addition to walking my dogs twice daily, I was fortunate enough to find TURBO JAM!!!! I had so much fun in my first workout, I had to have all of them! In my first 2 months I lost 25 pounds! The following 2 months I lost 7 pounds and then hit a plateau, this was partly due to my diet, but I needed something more. Then I found out about CHALEAN EXTREME! These workouts are so much fun and so challenging, exactly what I needed. I have transformed my body from flabby to a lean, strong, and firm. Now I am in control, not my emotions. I count my calories, but if I want something special, I eat it. Pizza, ice cream, chips and salsa all in moderation and my other meals are healthier. I am not working out 1,2, or 4, days but 6, with one to rest. In addtion to Turbo Jam and Chalean Extreme, I love swim, jog on the beach, yoga, and dance.
Now That I have muscles, my metabolism is super-charged. I feel confident and fearless. I am now living in the moment. I don't allow myself to dwell about the past mistakes or worry about tomorrow. Enjoying what I am doing today is what really matters. This is a gift I can pass on to my daughter. She will also grow up knowing that fitness is important no matter what age you are and good nutrition is key.
Now that I have reached my initial goal weight and lost 55 pounds, I have moved onto a new goal. I am in the second month of my second round of Chalean Extreme. I don't want to set another goal weight exactly, I want to get to be the most fit I can be. With weight lifting, I find it easier to measure my progress in inches rather than the scale. I will continue to lift weights and eat healthy and as my fat melts and the muscles grow, my body will shrink.
My next challenge will be to complete P90X! Bring it on baby!
